I have a strong suspicion that it was a bad batch that wasn't caught, perhaps using a pressure plate from an incorrect clutch, and ended up mixed in with good stage 1s, and having a separate release bearing problem. It would explain why companies like Racing Beat see good installations in general, but some of us have clearly had issues that are not easily explained and are not apparently just installation problems.

I was referring to the words that reflect poorly on yourself. There's nothing going on that reflects poorly on RB despite an exaggerated attempt to do otherwise. Did BHR "sucker" it's customers in by using the manufacturers marketing information? That kind of comments are absurd, but choosing to stand by it is your choice. Pretty sure the one I installed originally came from BHR.
That said if I were RB my decision would be to not do anything without first getting the clutch back and either installing it on another RX8 for their own direct evaluation or sending it back to Exedy for their analysis. Exedy can certainly mount and spin it up to 10k without issue to verify whether there is a problem with the clutch assy. or if something was just not installed or adjusted properly on your end.
Otherwise how can you explain the people using the same clutch without issue?

Despite your lack of approval of my chosen words, I have succeeded in grabbing much needed attention into this matter as witnessed by the abundant amount of intuitive and elbow grea$ed replies to my OP.
As far as sending the kit back to RB, well I have a bit more going on in my world than my RX8 and repacking clutch kits, going to postal offices, paying customs fees etc for no guarenteed replacement or refund all at my own expense.
Thanks to all the other guys for providing much needed insight and usefull information on this annoying, time consuming and what has now turned into a rather expensive issue.

Declamp. I think means the clutch releases...
If I understand, there are weights inside the pressure plate. At higher RPM, centrifugal force pushes them to the outside. This process presses the pressure plate towards the engine. This is how a clutch works on a high powered engine with a clutch you can actually press.
In the "negative crown" position, the weights are actually flipped the wrong way, when they get pushed out, they actually pull the pressure plate back. This results in a lighter and lighter clutch, right up untill release.
I have a flywheel, OEM clutch, and a Stage 1 in the garage. I got a borescope for Christmas. I now need half a day, beer and help to run through it all and get pictures.

"No, the rear counterweight is only required if you'll be replacing the stock flywheel with an aftermarket unit. The Exedy Kit is a GREAT kit, it comes complete with disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and thrust bearing. This kit has proven to be VERY popular and is easily the most common clutch kit we sell. Let me know if you have any other questions."
Notice how they use GREAT and VERY to sucker me in.

I will post this here too even though its been a year... Not sure if this is the answer but.... I do not do a lot of posting but, I come here a lot and get lots of help. I thought I would share this since this spacer issue has been going on for a while and I did not really see an answer. Here is my story......I changed my oem clutch at 80k not because the clutch was bad but because the throw out bearing exploded. I put in a stage 1 hd, what can I say it was on sale and even though I dont need it, I liked it and was probably going to replace it with the same, until I saw all these posts about spacers and failing. I bought this, 10803AHD, years ago and it only lasted 70k, which I guess isnt bad but I really expected more. So anyways I called exedy because there was some conflicting info about the HD and the regular stage 1 on the website I was looking at. The first thing the rep said is, there is no HD series 1 for the RX-8. I said not according to the catalog. He said there "may" have been some mix up on that and that the 10803 clutch is not for RX-8's and told me the 10803 is 3mm's shorter the RX-8's clutch. I asked if thats why everyone on here is talking about spacers, he said probably. Even on their wesbite it still calls for the 10803 for the RX-8, then he gave me a part number for the RX-8 stage 1 that does not even come up on their site and apparently Google has never even heard of it. So not sure why some work and some fail, even the shop Im having put this in says they use them all the time with no problem. In short if you installed a 10803A or HD it is probably the wrong clutch. Paul at MazMart has the skinny and he can get the correct part, mine is on the way.

3mm shorter is not really a big deal in itself. The slave will compensate and move the throwout bearing forward. Which you should also reset the clutch pedal adjustments with every clutch change. It's only an issue if you run out of travel and can't disengage the disc clamping sufficiently. None of this addresses the declamping issue that has been claimed when using Stage1 in some circumstances.

Update: As I mentioned in an earlier post, we attempted to address your concerns through repeated calls to Exedy. At a later point we noticed their PN 10803A no longer referenced the RX-8 application, and we removed this application from our parts listing. Now, we've noted that Exedy offers part number 10812 specifically for only the RX-8 application, and features both a different pressure plate and disc as compared with the original kit. I appears that Exedy has indeed made changes to this kit!
However, as of this writing there is conflicting application information when using the current (as of 8/26/15) online parts referral guide, the printed catalog, and the Dealer B2B ordering application. Hopefully this information will be corrected in the near future and all sources will then point to the 10813 kit.
We've not yet had a chance to compare the two kits in detail, but there are modest differences in the design of both pressure plate and disc when comparing the kits. The specs for the new part number list higher capacity ratings for both pressure plate and disc.
