Is buying an 04 rx8 with the original engine a bad idea?

i added a quart of oil to the 8 today and then the power steering quit, go figure.
bad connection at the rack or battery, i know but it never fails. take care of one issue and another takes its place(even if it's the most basic of maintenance).

My 04 RX8 built in '03 is over 9 years old. It's had alot of stuff done to it for free including a replacement engine core @ 55k by PO.
I personally spent $3k (mostly at the dealer) to bring it to 100% new including appearance items. I plan on driving it for about another 3-10 years fast on weekends only. Until something else affordable grabs my attention?
My other car is an 86 Mustang GT convertible that also gets raced and is 27 years old. Hmmmm. It actually is going up in value now.
Maybe some day the 8 will go up in value too? If I keep it long enough.
I like fun to drive cars I don't see every day!!

most cars depreciate until a point and then eventually begin to gain in value a rather long ways down the road, if they survive long enough and are in decent enough condition.
there are exceptions of course like true limited edition(SS/RS/yenko/etc), customs and hand built cars(exotics, including some domestics). there were very few rotary cars that really fall into any of those categories. SA, GSL-SE, 10th anniversary rx7, FD, 40th anniversary rotary RX8(questionable, how many were built and what real upgrades did it recieve?) and pre '78 rotaries(low production runs and are quite rare now).
