buying an 8 soon hopefully
I am looking to buy an 8 soon as this would be the first car of my own. right now i drive either a 95 dodge dakota or a 92 miata. they are alright but i want an 8 to have for my own when i move off to college in a couple years. anydangway, i cant decide between a red 8 with black/red interior or a black 8 with black/red interior. i know i want a used car with the gt package with MT since im used to the miata. anything anyone would like to suggest/tell me about their experience with an 8. also if anyone has gone from a 92ish miata to an 8 tell me some pros/cons between them. i want to go test drive the car they have at the dealership in my town but they have a 22 years or older rule.

I owned three Miatas before getting an 8.
Pros:
• Much better on long highway trips. Hours spent on the interstate are relatively relaxed and quiet compared to the Miata. Sure, the Miata will drone down the highway at 80mph for hours—but it doesn't like to, and after an hour or so, it's clear that's NOT what the car is for.
• The back seats are very handy. Even without a passenger, it's nice to be able to just toss stuff back there. And you won't have to carefully fit every little thing into the Miata trunk like a jigsaw puzzle.
• It's fun to rev the smooth-as-silk rotary engine up to redline.
• Handling is very, very good—though not quite as good as the Miata.
• Driver's seat is more adjustable, and more comfortable. And you (and your passengers) don't feel as claustrophobic as in the Miata with the top closed.
• The 8 will swallow a lot of stuff! Move the passenger seat all the way forward and—with no "B-pillar" to get in the way—you won't believe what you can fit back there!
• There aren't many RX-8's out there. Compared to the Miata, it's an "exotic" car to friends, family and strangers—especially people who don't "know" cars. People will come up to you from time to time and ask what kind of car is that? And they'll assume you paid 40 grand to get it!
Cons:
• Fuel economy not as good. I get between 17 and 22.
• On a crisp autumn day—or on a warm summer night cruising downtown—you'll wish you still had the Miata. But for almost all other times, you'll be glad you have the 8.

the convertible top is a definite pro but i ride with my freind in his scion tc. He has a sun/moon roof and i kinda like it. Plus the top in the old miata is manual and that gets annoying.
This town has no used 8 whatsoever. The only ones to buy here are new and they have a black one just like i want for sale but i dont have the money now.
And i live in south georgia...the reason for no rx8's for sale used.
