Bye bye rx8club!!! Have to move on to a gas saver car!
It was with a heavy heart that I had to sell my 8. She was running great with the new engine but it was an 04. It had rust on both rear wings and trunk brake light. The AC belt snapped off due to a pulley seizing and the pulley snapped off as well. There was oil leaking down the intake. Daytime lights were short circuited, my keyless remote stopped working as well.
I wish I could of put some money to fix it up but with all these little things it would've added up too much. I had to let it go. Found some guy who took it as is.
Gas is getting very expensive here in montreal. Premium today is 157.4 a litre, which means 5.97$ a gallon for you guys in the states. I lost about 7 hours a week on my work schedule so money is starting to be an issue. I was putting in about 85 bucks a week on gas and I drive about 220 miles a week. So I went with the biggest fuel saving car ever. I bought a Jetta TDI highline. Ill have peace of mind for at least 4 years and ill be passing by gas stations while others have to fill up. With the $$$ I got from the rx8 sale, I gave a huge cash down and my saving on fuel will pay for 60% of my new car payment.
Farewell rx8club ! You have been so good to me for the past 6 years. I know so much more about rotaries, I had fun with all the great DIYs. So many knowledgeable people in here willing to help. I didn't need a mechanic for anything except the motor replacement. I did everything myself thanks to you guys with simple tools. Frankly this is the best club ive been on for all the cars Ive owned!
It hurts to leave, but once my financial situation is back in order, I will be waiting impatiently for Mazda's new sports car. I really hope they make an rx9 with that new rotary concept. I will be a buyer. For now, im off with my TDI. And my first ever german car! wooohooooo fuel economy!
Cheers to all of you!
