As long as you put on snow tires, it is fine.

There are plenty more where that came from. Do a search, you'll find them.

I don't know about snow. But in the rain it is a champ. Even with the stock 18" Bridgestone tires it really feels glued to the road. We have had a lot of rain since I took delivery and I am really impressed.

I won't drive it in the snow without different tires (my choice). Seems fine in the rain and even better after siping the Bridgestones.

all i got to say is make sure you get the dunlop's and not the bridgestone's......the dunlops are better in snow.

No, they both suck in the snow. If you're serious about driving in the snow and winter conditions, then the RX-8 with /real/ winter tires is awesome. Under no circumstances should you drive a rear-wheel driven vehicle in snow or ice with high performance summer tires. If for some reason Mazda is now outfitting the RX-8 with dunlop all-season tires, you should immediately ask for a refund to buy real tires, either summer or winter.

For stock tires the 8 sucks bad in the snow (At least more than a dusting) agree, buy snow tires for the snow. You can't move the 8 if snow gets greater than a few inches with the stock tires. I've had my 8 parked when the its snowed since buying the car left me without money for snow tires. But I will get them next year garunteed. I tried backing out of a parking spot in the parking lot where I lived when there was about 4 inches of snow and almost sleed into the car parked next to me. In the rain the 8 Handles like a champ. I agree with most people that are getting seperate rims with snow tires, so that you can change them out yourself.

Search for posts by my ID with 'winter tires', you'll find several threads that discuss many of the wheel and tire options.

With 4 proper winter tires, the RX-8 does very well in snow. I've had my 215/55-17 Toyo Garit HT winter tires on for 5 months now, and have taken the RX-8 skiing several times along with daily driving. It is fantastic!

Regards,
Gordon

I have 17" rims with snow tires and my car has done very well in all sorts of snow/ice/slop road conditions, including two days when the local schools were closed.

I think the search Gord96BRG suggested will give you very complete answers to your question
