Did you find the car at a used lot for a steal? Check for signs of water damage. It could be cars coming from the hurricane hit areas. Is this what you're worried about?

I Googled the VIN, and can see that it was at one time listed on Putnam Mazda's site in Burlingame, CA for sale. I didn't see it currently on their site though.
It also showed up in the SanFran Chronicle newspaper.

You can check the National Insurance Crime Bureau. They have a database of all the recorded flood cars from that area. If they don't have information on the VIN you input, they check the ownership records to see if the car was registered in an area hit by the hurricanes. It's a great site.

Dunno if that's good, or bad. Just telling you what Google returned. Now, if the car is currently nowhere near SF then perhaps something fishy is going on. Right away we know that it has been at 2 dealerships recently.

Ugh.. that carfax has already saved me from a couple of mistakes in the search for a used car recently. So many people are mis-representing their cars in one way or another. The most glaring one was an odometer rollback car that had obviously been bought at auction. The "owner" said he had it for 2 years (he had it for 2 weeks) and tried to tell me it hadn't been wrecked, which it clearly had been. Just pay the $25 and get carfax.
