I can't justify spending $240 on rear aero flares. That's madness. I still want the aero package but does Mazda offer these pieces without paint? If so, any ideas on the price? I'd just have a local shop paint them and save hundreds.

 

There's this Ebayer that sells the whole aero kit for about 400 with the "best offer". It comes with rear flares, side flares, front lip, fog light kits, and rear spoiler painted. I've been thinking about picking it up but my color wasn't available. Or you can just get the Rear Aero flares for less then 75 bucks if you use the "best offer"

thats the whole kit, and im sure his reserve is probably somewhere around 325.

but the problem is that he has a lot of green, yellow, and white.

bad news for us VR. if he ever does have red, i never see them. they must go to quickly.

check the forum vendors, im sure someone here sells decent quality replica kits that you can buy and have painted. or ask in the exterior mods section for good ones to buy from.

 

Yea, I've emailed that azparts guy on ebay a few times and he quit responding after my first question. He said he'd sell the kit for $450 but a decent paint job will run me $4-500. I counter-offered twice and he never said a word.

 

he can order the parts for you - so for example, aero sides he sells in a few colors for $99. If you wanted the side aero in a different color (silver for example), you can ask him to order it, and it'll come out to $130, plus shipping.

He is random at replying though. Keep trying, eventually you'll find out what you want to know.

 

Well, I need the galaxy gray and in the one message he sent, he said he didn't have that color and probably will never have that color. Basically, SOL.
The dealer where I bought the car just told me you can't get them unpainted. Not even an option. This is just ridiculous. $950 + tax for about 4 sq. feet of ground effects.

 

heh. that's nothing. the mazdaspeed body kit is going to run you around $4,000.

I say don't bother. oem aero isn't anything to write home about.

 

I think it really set the car off. Just a little too boring without it yet it's not overkill. Mazdaspeed parts are outrageously overpriced. Almost $200 for B-pillar stickers... suuuuuuuuck iiiiiiit.

The side "spats" in my Appearance Package are both dinged up - the right one from a curb scrape and the left one from general gravel spittage off the road.

But the "behind the wheel" spats are fine as is the front splitter. Anyone know if anyone sells the parts individually. I've looked into having them painted and it's like $350. At that price, I'll buy the entire kit new.

For OEM painted parts it's a good buy. Unless you have a good relationship with a pro painter.

 

Guys, I just bought from that "azpartsexpress" guy on ebay (link previously above) a set of the side aero flares for $99.00. FACTORY parts (according to this guy - I guess we'll see when I get them, but he has a high feedback rating on ebay so he can't be a stroke). But they look the same as what Mazdaparts and Rosenthal have and the part number he is quoting is correct as well. Cross my fingers!

yeah, i do believe they are factory parts. i dunno how he sells them so cheaply.

i think they're overstock or something. he only sells some colors at those prices. like i said, if you need a color he doesn't stock, he can order it, but it's a few dollars more

One spray can of Galaxy Grey, and one spray can of clear ($40 including shipping as I recall) will do the OEM front spoiler, the OEM mid body spoilers, and the OEM rear under bumper spoilers.

I bought the front spoiler, and painted it and it matched my Galaxy Grey '8 perfect.

 

Good point - he has Lightning Yellow and the metallic green. I know LY is a discontinued color - is the green discon as well?

 

I just got mine repainted 'cause of all the nicks.

I remember someone here mentioning some sort of clear film that can cover the leading edge so it can't happen again, but I can't find anything. Anybody have a clue?

Google it. Its all over the place. I dont know of anyone on here that sells it for the 8. But owners on here are using it.
Check your local Lambo/high end cars dealer. They should know who to point you to.
Its all custom made to your car. Or pre maid to fir your car. They some times take pic's of your car to make it fit just right and at SEMA last year they had this new one out with radair deflect in it I was like no way!

 

AWESOME! thanks for the heads up on this guy. i had to go thru the nightmare of getting 2nd hand aero parts WITHOUT mounting hardware or instructions, at like $100-200 more than for what this guy is selling them.

And now ive picked me up a set of WB Front Splash Guards at half retail cost

My side flares and airdam are kinda beat up, and i think i might just get new parts from this guy, rather than spend the money on the repaint.


Cant wait till he starts stocking MS kit parts!!

 

I'd say don't hold your breath on that one. He stocks what he can get on a firesale.
