Can we order new MAF sensors somewhere?
Has anyone tried doing this? I've read that someone (abbid?) here was able to order a new one . If we go to parts dept at a dealership, would they sell us a new MAF sensor for the RX8?
It looks like a replaceable part that Mazda could easily produce spares for. I'd like to experiment on replacing my MAF sensor someday.

What would be the price range for that guy? Mugatu, I'm one of those members here that are suspecting the variance between our MAFs as one of the factors for the vast difference in power (also Mileage) between RX-8s.

i tried to get granatelli to make us an after market one or at least see if they were interested but they wouldnt return my emails. of course you can order any part you like i would think. if they are available and you have the money etc the parts dept will sell it to you.

zoom, granatelli seems to be interested in Domestic cras only. Them and along with other companies out there. Heh, I have learned that most aftermarket companies are either exclusively working on Domestics or Hondas. Our car is neither, so tough luck.

My memory isn't the greatest so take this for what it is worth... I believe that I read somewhere (how's that for accuracy) the MAF in the 8 is fairly generic and manufactured by a third party supplier anyway. Again, if I remember what I had read, the 350z might use the same MAF. If it is a common part, there are likely alternatives already out there.
There have been some butt dyno reports here that cleaning the MAF is helpful. Some suspect that their MAFs were fouled by pre-delivery flooding and that's why they have had rough idle and poor performance and gas mileage right from the start.

One problem with getting a new MAF is you are not guaranteed to get one that will yield you more power. You could by a new one and it could cause LOSS of power. Also, last I checked, these weren't cheap. I seem to remember somewhere up in the $500 range. For that money you can get a CZ and all the necessary cables.

They are about $150....not likely to make a positive difference unless the one you have is really on the edge of normal specs...or broken...then they should replace it under warranty anyway :D
