Cannot redline the engine regularly, use fuel additive instead?
Hey all, I searched a lot and seems like everyone is recommending redline the engine every day or every other day.
For multiple reasons (live in school area, heavy traffic, damn speed limit, police everywhere, tons of stop signs, etc), I really cannot redline the engine everyday, even with the first gear. Hearing some ppl from other forum saying that the "redline SI-1" fuel additive is really good stuff and can reduce the need for rev engine largely.
I know some ppl here also use the SI-1 additive, just wonder is this really helpful for ppl like me cannot rev the engine daily.
If not, any other idea what can I do to reduce the carbon buildup(without frequent redlining..)?
Thanks in advance

edit: My bad, I forgot to answer your question lol
Don't bother using that stuff. Just try to rev above 7krpm to clean out your valves. Also, why not take your car to an open spot of road on the weekends and enjoy the thrill of "BEEEEEEEEP"?

well yeah, I definitely would like to keep revving the engine every weekend, sounds more reasonable for me rather than rev everyday.
Additional question. If I redline at 2nd gear, usually what's the speed then. is that gonna be to fast or too slow on freeway? what's the approx speed on 1st gear?

1st and 2nd gear redline should be easily achievable regardless of your local traffic unless you live in the center of a major city. Any exit on/off ramp is perfect for a 1st-3rd run to get up to traffic and great for the motor.
