can't change my factory stereo system?
so i went to my local car toys shop today cuz i was hoping to install an in dash mp3 player to replace my factory stereo. as you know you can't simply slip out the factor stereo and replace it with the square type in dash mp3 player. the guys there said they would have to do some research on how to do this, cuz it won't be easy.
has anyone swapped out their stero for a another one? can this be done easily? or am i stuck with the factory system? dont' get me wrong, the factory system is fine, but i wanted an mp3 player, or some cool in dash lcd type thing...
thanks!

um if u want mp3 then u should've selected the MP3 player when u got the car... other then that there is no other way to change the stock stereo.... someone out there will make a faceplate that allows us to chagne the whole system... but that will be some day.... soon i hope but i dubt it cause if someone did it we would;'ve heard from it...
the only way u can get mp3 now is to go back to mazda and buy teh mp3 deck... and get it or someone else to install it...
and he;s new... don't flame him... poor guy... he just wants his questions answered

That comment was not necessary.. It just makes you look like a TOOL. Makes you just as bad as everyone else.
If you choose not to say anything good in any thread then DO not say it at all.
Sorry to sound so harsh, but come on. Enough with all this BS.. Give the dude some info if its the last thing you can do. *then to say* Let the flaming begin.
PS. There has been a few people that had done somthing with there dash. A few that have made molds.. If your lookin for an MP3 player.. Get an Ipod and mod it into the stock radio. *using a PIE adapter or IceLink. or FM mod.
Search in other forums. Might be helpful.

You can save costs by installing the factory MP3 player youself. The whole unit is only held in with 4 screws, and slots out the front complete with facia. Be careful that you undo all the screws before pulling it out though, othewise you will break the internal circuit board.

I think the constant "flaming" comes from the fact that many of these type of posts have already been stated in previous posts. I know that shouldn't justify berating someone... but it can get a bit annoying after reading people ask the same questions over and over ... knowing full well there is a Search Button on top.
This wasn't slighted at this particular thread.. merely stating an observation of the flaming phenomenom. Usually if I see a question from a new member that has already been stated before... I just let it slide and mention the "search button."

Welll if u aheva n Ipod then u may want to do this cheap and "easy" mod
http://www.whatsmyip.org/ipodrx8/
it's a tituoral explainning step by stpe how to take apart ur stock radio and solder the wires needed to hook up ur ipod... costs only ~$10 for the wires if u already have ipod...
if i have a 8 i'll definity do it...

ok, that's true. my apologies then. i'll take my one newbie freebie.
BUT... since we're on the topic... what level of audio degredation do you get if you do a ipod (i actually have a dell jukebox) type rig to your stock stereo? will you hear substantial loss of quality? i'm not very versed in stereo equipment, but can a simple ipod drive enough power to the speakers to make it sound as good?
