Car’s back from the shop, still a little off.
Got my car back from the body shop and I’m not sure if everything is within specs.
My car was hit by flying tire debris while driving up CA I 5 (damn semi’s with re-tread tires), busted the front air dam, knocked the bumper off two of it’s brackets and tore off the under body panels. I took the car to a reputable shop, but it still looks like the bumper is a little off.
The gap between the hood and the front bumper now runs between 3/16 and 1/4 inch, where as the gap between the hood and the side fenders run between 1/8 and 3/16, does anyone know if that is normal, would anyone be willing to compare your hood against my measurements.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Posting a picture of the areas you're concerned about would be helpful. Sorry to hear it's not right.
Is it possible that you could drive down to your local Mazda dealer and personally check out a few other RX-8s yourself?

No digital camera…
But yeah, that’s what I was planning to do, just thought I’d see if anyone new off hand.
I think part of the gap between the hood in just how the RX8’s are built, when look at my RX7, the hood is dead on the bumper and no gap between the fenders. However the 8’s have about 3/16 gap around all the doors/hood and the black rubber seal between the hood and bumper on the 8’s make the gap look larger…(or is this just my 8?) I guess I’ll check it out at the dealership sometime this week.
Thanks again
