Car idiot -need to do some learning...

Hey guys - I feel like a total n00b around some of the car people I hang out with. I've been trying to learn a little more about the car, etc... but just can't seem to find enough resources. Are there any good "Idiot's Guide" type publications or online resources for the RX-8 as it is today? I am also tryingn to locate a shop manual, or something I can look at to see the workings of the car, etc...

thoughts?

Like ABS says, this forum is by far the best source of informaton on the RX-8. Just take the time to read some of the DIY threads and the general posts in the Tech Section. Of course, you will have to take everything with a grain of salt until you are knowledgable enough to filter out the BS and erroneous information. See my PM for additional information.

you can learn a lot from just reading, but the best experience is just diving in and doing stuff. I read up on the FD for years before actually getting one, but I really didn't start learning alot until i got the car and started working on it. I hope that I don't have to work on the 8 other than oil changes

Start with the FAQ in this forum. Then go to howstuffworks.com and search on rotary engine to get an handle on your Wankel. Also check out http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.com/

Once you understand the basics, dive into the Tech section of the forum and/or google for "rotary webring" which will get you a bunch of other sites many with technical information about the rotary engine. Most are RX-7 oriented sites but most of it carries over to the RX-8.

Happy reading.
