Oddly I seem to remember the Audi S4 being the most stolen car for the number produced. However it's rating above is below average when they clump it with the A4.

(shrug)

Didn't expect this thread to go this far. Insurance as always is a hot button for people in Mass, NJ where they ask you if you want to give up your first born or your left hand for insurance.

Progressive covers my '03 Lancer (non-Evo) for about $190/mo, full coverage w/ $500 deductible, and they quoted the RX-8 as about $5/mo extra. Because it's still a 4-door sedan.

The insurance on mine runs around a thousand a year with max coverages and a deductibles of $500. I haven't had a violation in a decade but I do have one accident two years ago in which I was not at fault (in my 6) and my insurance company didn't pay a cent.

The amount my car insurance went up for getting the 8 was less than the amount my insurance went up for MOVING. 2-1/2yrs ago I moved less than a mile, from an apartment complex where my car was outside all the time to a house where it's kept in a garage all the time. The house is in a new development and I think is actually in a "safer" neighborhood, but it's in a different zip code and that's how they make their determination.

Replacing the Mazda6S with an RX-8? That cost me $8/mo.

Moving? That cost me $12/mo.

Go figure.

Pre-move and pre-RX-8 I was paying a little under $800/yr.

I pay around $836 a year in California under a very large family policy. Clean driving record and over 30 but under 40.

I did some quotes online and compared the 350Z to the 8 and it did come up more. My only guess is that I was getting the wrong rate on the 350Z when I owned the vehicle. When I compare the rates I had with the 350Z to the rates I get now they are way off. I was lucky and didn't even know.

350Z

State Farm:
Bodily Injury / Property Damage $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 $174.26
Comprehensive $250 $67.07
Collision $500 $264.56
Medical Payments $5,000 $12.04

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total Premium Vehicle 1 of 2: $517.93

RX-8

Bodily Injury / Property Damage $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 $174.26
Comprehensive $250 $48.69
Collision $500 $182.87
Medical Payments $5,000 $13.55

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total Premium Vehicle 1 of 2: $419.37

Well from Geiko, when I get to a buyable quote, its at $1150 per 6/mo. I am 22, driving for 6 years, no accidents / tickets. Living at an appartment building.

Anyone have issues having someone attempt to steal their RX while away from home, like at the movies... mall....?
