Do people hate the 8 or what? wtf?

 

It's not just the 8. It seems like any new car becomes a target to these ingrates. 2 weeks after I just bought my 03 Honda Accord, I get 3 door dings in it at the DMV. Down to the metal under the paint. I was there less than 5 minutes, and it was parked by itself going in and coming out.

A week later, someone decides to key the driver's door and the rear bumper while I'm at a supermarket.

A month later, I'm visiting my girlfriend's parents when I come out to see that someone stuffed cigarette butts into my gas cap door! Two were stuck in the cap, one actually made it inside. All were still lit! A search around the car found that they also decided to stuff my exhaust pipe with gumballs!

I have no idea who would have done this, as I don't have any enemies that I know of. Apparently, there has been a rash of vehicle vandalisms in the neighborhood that week.

 

Although I think red RX-8's are best looking (followed by blue), I opted for a TiGray one largely to attempt to reduce the bling factor attracting miscreants. My car is parked on the streat (under a streetlight). Thankfully, my neighborhood is both relatively nice and not populated by many teenaged boys.

 

There's just something about sports cars that brings out all the jealous haters. You could have a 10-year-old Miata, but detail it up nice and someone will walk past rows of brand-new $50k SUVs and luxury cars to **** with it.
