Car overheats to much..

So as most of you know, it's hot in Miami. Yesterday it was 98F with humidity, from what the 8 was displaying, today it was only 91F. Every time I'm cruising around, and I park and turn off the car. The fans start to come on. And I'm driving within the speed limit, since I don't want to waste any gas. Is it normal for the 8 to get hot every time it starts up?

Used to only happen to me once in awhile if not rarely (on those redline days). I'm guessing it's the unbearable hot weather.

Meant to say "too"

the radiator fans are on to vent out the heat built up in the coolant. This is normal and does not mean the car is overheating.

In fact, with the accessport or mazsport cooling fan mod, we decrease the fan turn on temp so that it turns on sooner and thus ends up running more.

I would guess your car is not even coming close to actually overheating. When I lived in Texas, I noticed my 8 ran hotter on the 100+ days and the fan would run for a while after it was shut-off (as its designed to do) but the car never actually overheated.

The fact that the fans come on does not indicate overheating. They are designed to come on in stages when the coolant temperature reaches certain points. And stop and go city driving will cause that to happen more frequently than steady open-road driving. The fans will also run after engine shut down when the coolant is at or above a certain temperature. If you are interested in the details, the factory shop manual has specific information on fan activation.

^ Indeed. I mean overheat by just saying it needs to cool off. And it wasn't a stop & go city driving.. It's going to either work, school, or just the bank. But yea, I'm guessing theres no harm. Wanted to know if it was normal to hear the fans working constantly after every trip. Wish it were cold out..

The fans go on all the time. The fans stay off while coolant is under 190F or so, and turn on around 200F. The hotter it gets, the faster the fans spin. So if you're just cruising, it's possible for the fans to be turned off, but they could also be running ... They just keep the engine within a specific range.

At least you have humidity in Miami. Living in Arizona must be death for a lot of cars.

Humidity = good for cooling.

Humidity isnt good for our engines, dry heat is better.

Well humidity sucks in all. I'd rather have dry heat than this humid crap. And yea, it might be normal but after hearing the fan constantly, I was thinking something was wrong since it never happened before. Except those times when I caused the fan to come on..

Humidity weather can take heat away from dry surface, say, engine, much faster than dry air.

it sucks for living beings tho, cuz we depend on water to bring our heat away as well, but we naturally be able to *sweat*, so when there's too much water in the air, our heat is all trap thats why we feel like **** when its humid.

As a human, yes I love dry heat more thand *wet* heat. but for engines, its better to have *wet* heat than dry heat.

Like mysql saids, the system turn the fan on to cool the radiator coolant

but it also helps to cool the engine off. Cuz trapped heat is not good.
