If this is the "official" RX-8 car cover you can get a cable lock that should at least keep the cover from leaving the premises. You also might try hanging weights--like bricks?--somehow from the front and rear of the cover.

I don't think so.
I heard the fit is really tight with the appearance package but does not fit with the spoiler.
I read that and thus I am looking for a different brand.

Since I have the cover, I can answer your question. The cover will fit the rear spoiler, the front air dam, and all the appearance package components with no problem. The cover is a tight fit which apparently bothers some people. Check Rosenthal prices as well before purchasing.

I have the cover and the cable lock. The lock solves your problem of it blowing off.

Can I ask you, would it be stupid to cover your car at your job? I don't want someone to think (who obviously does not know me or how I am) this guy thinks his car or he is all this or that...KEY TIME, but...but...

My job is close to a "cement/rock/etc" factory and it dumps CRRRRR, stuff...on my car daily. I wash it...and by the first day it's FULL of dust or sandy stuff.

So, I would not mind putting a car cover on it...but I worry about what someone might do to my car because they think I'm Mr. Big shot or something.

What do you guys think and does anyone do this?

That's a crappy place to have to park. As far as a covered car being a magnet for vandalism, I would think it might depend on the character of the foot traffic that is usually seen in and around the area where you park. Also, the way you describe the environment there, your car cover will be picking up a lot of dust and dirt, so taking it on and off may result in some scratching.

Yea about parking it in your work parking lot with the cover on... should be okay if its a smaller private parking area. If you know pretty much all the people that will be parking there regularily, throw it on. I have covered my car while in work.

Tennis ball. Wrap a tennis ball in the cover and tie it with string right in front. The ball can be shoved into the triangular logos in the bumper. At least the cover will not blow away.

I'd say you're worried about the wrong thing. They won't scratch your car, you will. The factory cover is very tight fitting nylon. If it's dirty, it will scratch your paint. Based on where you work, one use is safe. After that, you better find a way to wash that cover before you use it again!

I use a california car covers cover for my 8. It also has holes and grommets for a cable lock system. They can be ordered for an 8 with or without a spoiler.
Mine has yet to blow away. (I've not used the cable lock yet).
