CarMax delivery

Hi everyone... new to the club here. I've got a used 04 winning blue MT rx8 comin my way next week from carmax. 22k miles and a clean record (so far).
I was looking at the usual.. s2000, 350z, and rx8. Test drove all of them, but once i got into an rx8, it was over. its just so damn fun to toss around! used to have an 03 WRX with cobb engine managemnt, full exhaust, etc. loved that car to death but I'm ready to experience rear wheel drive. I'll be autox'ing in what i guess will be B-stock class. anyway, I'm not going to ask about problems or gripes (i know there's plenty of them) cause I've been reading the crap out of this forum for the last week, but I thought I'd just introduce myself. this anticipation is killing me!!

welcome. you're right -- it's got a couple issues, but it's well worth it -- damn fun to drive. i still get giddy when i see it after 4 years.

Your RX-8 has 60K Miles 5 Years Warranty by factory. DO NOT BUY CARMAX 60K Miles 5 Years Warranty. Credit Unions can usually offer better rates and Platinum Bumper-To-Bumper 48K Miles 4 Years Warranty (from date of purchase) for $1K and loans that are at least 2% lower than dealers.

Those cheapy credit union warranties will disapoint. They cover vewry little, use used parts when possible, have high deductibles and generally jsut suck. It's really only worht buying a Mazda warranty, and as they should be, they are expensive for this car.

When your 8 arrives at CarMax, and you go to pick it up. Go over every inch of it with the salesperson and have them write up anything that you find wrong with it including scratches or dents. They are usually pretty good about fixing all of this kind of stuff, but you have to point it out before you drive away with it, and they have to write it up.

Well I bought the crappy Credit Union extended warranty and it saved me from paying for a $2300.00 ABS brain.

Credit Union warranties MAY BE good if you read the details before signing. But definitely BETTER than a dealer warranty.

Likely with a used brain pulled from a junkyard. Good luck with all of that.

Welcome to the club. Just beware that some folks on this forum will be quick to ridicule and insult you if they don't agree with what you might post on here.

I have bought a car and a pickup at Carmax in North Houston. No problems with either. I would not hesitate to buy another vehicle from them.

Welcome to the club. Carmaxx is overpriced. You are better off going to a Mazda dealership and adding an extended warranty for the same price.

thanks for the quick advice everyone. haven't been on car forums since i had my wrx. carmax has actually been a pretty good experience. not all the bs you usually get at dealerships. their interest rates could be better though, thankfully i have a good relationship with my credit union. so has anyone here had any luck with third party warranties like carmax or credit unions?
btw, i changed my mind and got a silver one instead (non-cursed version). should be here friday. and if that happens, sunday i'll be at my first autocross event with the 8 up in valdosta georgia.

well as much as i liked the blue, it just stood out too much for my taste. i also think the silver brings out the 8's lines very well, and hopefully won't attract as many po-lice.

They're both nice colors! No offense but I don't think camoflauge could hide an rx8. The design is sick

Congrats in advance and welcome to the Club.

I bought an '06 Galaxy Gray 6MT RX-8 from Carmax about 1.5 weeks ago. I also had the car transported in from another facility. This is the 2nd car I've bought from Carmax. They're definitely great to work with!

chicks dig rx8s in general! The car could be brown and theyll still get wet when u do 120 on an offramp, or theyll faint.

I do 50 for left turn on-ramp. Once, I over took the car in front by switching through the inside lane and going back out.
