Cat and Mouse
Well I live in Connecticut, and there are some pretty nice stretches of road around here.
My girlfriend and I were at Ikea in New Haven looking for some new furniture for our soon to be Condo.
So on the ride home we got on 95 North towards Waterbury / Hartford.
I was driving along trying to keep fuel consumption low. Doing about 68 - 70 in the slow lane.
Out of nowhere a Yamaha R1 comes hauling *** from up behind me and flies by.
So I decided I would catch up, so I lit up the tires and hit like 165 . no just kidding. lol
The guy actually let off, so I decided I would bring the speed up a little bit. He was probably doing around 80 at this point.
I pulled up next to him, and he started eyeing my car. So from there we both looked at each other and started accelerating.
Not to race, because it was clear he was accelerating slowly not to lose me.
But we got up to about 110 - 115 together and were just dipping down 95. When cars came up, he knew what move I was going to make so he would switch lanes, or let up. If he was ever in a tricky spot I would be sure to give him tons of room. It's like I knew what he was going to do, and he knew what I was going to do.
We drove for about 30 minutes just toying around with our vehicles that we are obviously thrilled with. We read each other perfectly and basically just had a grande old time tearing up 95 north.
On a nice stretch of road I brought it up to 130, and he accelerated then absolutely dusted me, but I remember thinking *man I wish I was on the side of the road, watching an RX8 and a street bike go by at 130*.
We were being as safe as we could be while doing 130 (oxymoron I know), but we handled it well. The 8 zagged through (very light) traffic with ease, and the guy clearly got a great kick out of my car.
He gave me a huge thumbs up then headed towards his exit ramp.
It, for one; was nice to hang with a bike and just tool around and also to really push the car to some higher speeds.
If I had my Mazda 3 still, the guy wouldnt have looked twice at me.
I finally feel like I finally got a car that is worthy of being driven like that.
The part I loved the most was how I thought, man this must look soo cool to other drivers. An RX8 and a R1 (right next to my passenger door) doing a buck30 down the fast lane. What they were REALLY thinking I will never know but oh well. lol
I know full well the bike could have totally owned my car, thats without question. But that fact that he wanted to have some fun, and drive fast made me feel good. We had a great deal of respect for each other out there, and I will probably never see the guy again.
I love my 8 so much.
Edit: ps: I will try not to layout my next post like an instruction manual so much next time. lol

You sound like one of those people that swears he is in control and can drive perfect while he's drunk. You weren't in control, had you have needed to stop cause someone pulled out or changed lanes w/o looking whatever you could of been dead, your g/f could of been dead and who ever you hit could of been dead along with who ever else was in that car.
The guy on the bike would of just left and you would be in the front page of the paper.

What the other drivers were probably thinking was where is cop when you need one. I have no patience for people who brag about doing stuff like that on public roads. I saw an idiot in a Mits. Eclipse attempt an unsafe pass and ended up sliding sideways into a telephone pole, if the pole wasnt there, he would have ended up in the patio of a restaurant. Use yor head!!!
