CEL came on this morning...
Yea, not sure why. Wasnt on last night at all, came home, parked. Woke up this morning for work, started it up and CEL never turned off at all, stayed on whole way to work... Hope its nothing serious, just got the RX-8! Only has 44k miles on it... I dont seem to feel any lack of power or anything, nothing feels different, hopefully its just a bad o2 sensor or something!
Will post what the code is when I get off work I hope.

Yep mines an 04, and I'll check the gas cap when I go out on lunch. Does the gas door trigger the CEL or the cap its self? Just take it off and retighten? Funny that can trigger a CEL, considering its in the BACK of the vehicle, not the engine!

You can solve the problem by making extra sure it's closed by turning it a million times every time you fill up or you could go buy a new gas cap. I use the first solution.

It doesn't see that it's open and Throw a CEL. It causes a change in pressure in the fuel system and the car thinks something is wrong and then throws a CEL.

Regardless go to Autozone and have 'em scan it for you for free. Then search the forum. There are other checks done on startup but its almost always the freakin' gas cap.

Nearest place like Autozone, besides Napa, is like 140 miles away lol. Well, sure enough the gas cap was just sitting in the hole, not screwed in, so I screwed it back on. How long untill the CEL goes away? Or do I have to have the codes reset?
