Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Question

Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Question
Question regarding Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranty repairs vs. New Vehicle Warranty repairs. My 2007 RX8 is pulling a P0455 engine light (fuel cap and filler pipe – I believe for RX8s the only problem is the fuel cap, but the dealer is claiming filler pipe has to be replaced as well). It also randomly flashes the Coolant Check light. Both of these issues are documented in TSBs (attached for your reference). It’s under CPO limited warranty until next year.
I took my car in for an oil change, and mentioned these items to the dealer. They only agreed to look at them if I agreed to pay a $150 diagnostic fee. The fee would be waived if it related to warranty work. Knowing that these items were known TSB’s and my vehicle was under the CPO warranty, I agreed. Of course I tried to tell them that I diagnosed it myself and these issues are TSB’s, but they stated they had to perform their own diagnosis and could not tell me if anything would be covered under warranty until afterwards.
Later, I received a call stating that nothing was covered, and it would cost approximately $800 to replace the fuel cap, filler pipe, and coolant tank. They explained that the TSB’s are only covered under New Vehicle warranty and not CPO. I’m sure a lot of people here bought certified pre-owned. Did any of you encounter this problem when trying to have these items fixed under TSB?

Do you have the actual Mazda CPO? Or is it an aftermarket warranty compay?
Here is the Mazda CPO warranty:

It seems more of a powertrain warranty. No mention of fuel pipes/gas caps. No mention of radiators/coolant tanks.

It depends on what warranty you signed up for. A certified pre-owned is like a warranty covered by that dealership were you bought the car. You need to read your signed contract regarding your warranty.
