Change in Options: Does it screw up my order??

I've changed my mind on getting the rear deck spoiler. The more I looked at it, the bigger it looked. I'm replacing it with the 6 cd changer.

I called my dealer, and he feels it's to late to change my mind.

My feeling is that, since this is really a port added option, it shouldn't effect the delivery of my car.

What are your thoughts???

I have visited with my dealer on 2 occasions regarding the port installed options (the latest being 1 week ago). He tells me there is still plenty of time for me to decide what I want.

Take that as you wish. I have has no reason to distrust him yet.

Good Morning
You should be able to change your options still. I just did this for one of my units that was already built and invoiced. The dealer will just get a credit memo on the original invoice and a new invoice issued. As far as delays in shipping, it's anyones guess as to whether the port installed options will delay shipment to the dealer. It shouldn't, but we all know this is not a perfect world. If we all just Hummmmmm all at once, maybe they'll get here sooner!!

Rooster -- take the above quote as being gospel, as budaman knows exactly what he is talking about. He has 1st hand knowledge.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Budaman. I feel much better now.

I thought I was going to be stuck with that spoiler. Not that the spoiler is ugly, but I just have reservations on how its going to look.

Just added the appearance package and rotary accent package this afternoon. Dealer said no problem since the car is still on the boat. I was not able to order the side strakes, door sill trim plates, exhaust finisher, valve stem caps, or rotary wheel centers yet -- they are not listed as port installed items -- dealer said they will likely just be dealer installed accessories and I will probably have to wait for a few months after the car arrives to get them. He is showing July Week 4 for my ETA -- dang it can't really take that long to get the car to port, to the distribution center and on a truck to Omaha can it

Dealer also said that they are starting to get a lot of showroom traffic asking about the RX-8 :D He only has mine (Titanium) and one other pre-order (Yellow) "on the boat" so looks like my 8 will be a rare commodity for a while. :p

talk to the parts dept. our parts dept can order the parts now. they have part numbers and prices for all parts in the accessory booklet (except for color coded numbers, ie: door guards, touchup paint, air dams, etc. they will not order those until they see the color code for the car when it is here) but everything else in the booklet can be ordered today!!

Well I got my options changed.

Out goes the rear Tail Spoiler, and in comes the 6 Disc CD Changer.

Interesting note:

Before I got rear tail spoiler changed, I received a note from Mazda with my Vin number: JM1FE173040100509

After I got confirmation from my dealer that he took care of the change, than I got another note from Mazda with a correction to my VIN number: JM1FE173940102064

Notice the increase in the final 8 numbers.... I wonder if I was set back in the rotation????

The second is your real VIN.

If you look in the VIN email thread you'll see Mazda sent out email to everyone giving the XX509 VIN as theirs...

I'll have to check that out. That makes me feel a lot better.

Thanks for the info.
