Change from Speed3?

I have a 2008 Speed3, and am getting the itch for something new. Has anyone had a Speed3, and moved to the 2009 RX-8? Any particular comments, especially reasons why I shouldn't consider this?

Thanks.

Get an R3 and you'll be happy...

You might miss the power though.

I did the opposite, I swapped from an 8 to the MS3 and I can't wait to be in the position to swap back to an 8. Don't get me wrong, I do love my Speed 3, but the 8 is just so much better - FOR ME. I emphasize 'for me' because you're very likely going to be disappointed by the power of the 8 coming from the MS3. Basically, if you're a raw power guy, you will hate the 8 more than you could ever imagine. If you love to carve up corners and can live with the power loss, you'll have a ton of fun with the 8.

MS3 - Fast econobox

RX8- Sports car.

The 8 is a little bit slower, and no where close in torque; but you will love it. Its much better looking, more luxurios and much better handling.

I say test drive one and see what you think!

get the 8 if you want to carve turns, turn heads, want luxury. etc...

its all relative. dont worry about its power, unless you've had a speed3 all you're life, the rx8 IS FAST.

I have driven a speed3, my dad has a speed6 and I have an 8. And let me tell you the speed3 is nice and you get get a lot of hp out of it but it will never ride or look like an 8. The 8 is something very different. You may need to test drive it, but if you are ready to loose some power and some practicality but gain a sports car and a 9k redline then you should switch.

Also think about it since it will cost you to change cars so quick.

bro, the only way to find out if you like it or not is to test drive one! Or, better yet, let a member from here that lives near you give you a ride through twisites...

as zoom mentioned, why would you want to take the depreciation hit twice like that? i'd hang onto the MS3 and then in a year or two start looking at switching if you still want to. plus you'll get another year of the new model being out and if there are any kinks to work out, they can be worked out by then.

"...it seems like the work of a committee, half of them said we want a 2 door GT car, and the other half said we want a 4 door saloon! I Know, LETS HAVE BOTH!"

Okay - you have an '08 speed3 which will drop in value because the 2010 redesigned model is going to be the one everyone wants (perhaps). So you're going to take a real hit there.

To trade in your 3 for a '09 R3 will still cost you probably 10-12 grand... So, if you're in a position to do that... why not just get a used 05 or 06 8 and keep your speed3?

I mean, thats really having your economy rocket hatchback for smacking civics between stop lights while hauling around all your stuff and then jumping in the 8 for some spirited driving sessions.... I know for me, it would be cheaper for me to own two cars on my insurance because of the multicar discount.

My .02

drive when and you should get your answer. What else are you looking at?

What are you looking for in a new car?

Keep what you have unless you don't need speed. The RX8 is very slow.

heed the warnings about power loss. my 8 is my first car and i love it. have only driven 4 bangers before so i didn't miss anything. actually fast enough that i'm scared of getting pulled over.

But your sig says it all, lol.

Going from a T/A to this there is a big diff. The 8 can get power, but get ready to spend a lot of money.

The speed 3 is a HP TQ monster and fun to drive but the 8 is ALOT more fun to drive than the speed3....I also say wait till the 16x if ur looking to keep the power that should have plenty!
