All dented up and they want 20K? The car is worthless, who wants a dented one? So you get to fix it and spend the same as new? I say they're worth 10K. But there are so many stupid consumers out there, someone might bite.

I'm betting these are flood-damaged cars. If you get lucky, the car will clean up just fine and very quickly.

But, I agree, $20K for a salvage-title car is rough.

but, as a race car ... HMMM there's an idea.

yeah 20k is pretty rough, but there is no flood damage, just the dents you see on them, I just can't believe they were able to write them as a total loss for that...

if the car is peppered with hail dents, it can total it if it's on a dealer lot (a dealer's "total" tolerance/threshold is much different than a consumer's).

But, how do you know they aren't flood cars? I bet they are!

There is a coworker that knows somehow, he is gone now, but I'll ask him on monday... I believe he spoke to them or went to see them, one of the two. How can they be flooded if they were in a lot? He told me there was no water damage... anyways, I'll ask him on monday... :D

Even if you get the car properly fixed, the car's history is tainted and will affect the resale value

Some of that damage looks like it was inflicted by the cleanup activity. Damage around the wheel wells and down on the rocker panels... it looks like they tried to drive the cars out of the fallen limbs rather than cutting apart the branches and pulling them away from the cars.

OK, there's npthing wrong with the cars. The inside is new.

It will cost at least 2 grand to fix the damage at a body shop.

They could even run 5 grand to fix it because of the special paint.

Have a body man look at the photos and give you an estimate first.

I sure wouldn't pay $20k for a car with Salvage title!

If you plan on trading car in in 4-5 years, then the salvage title will hurt. However, if you plan on driving car into ground, then it means very little, because once a car is old, salvage title means nothing basically. 10k would be a steal. I'd head down there right now and buy one if they were only 10k. I think they will have to lower their price to around 17-18k, or spend th money to fix them up, and sell for 22k.

Show up with cash. Money talks! I bet they would take the 17-18 range.
