Check engine light after ran out of fuel
When I was out on the track, i ran out of gas halfway through my lap, the car had no power when i stepped on the gas and the check engine light flashed on and off. but after i got some gas in there everything went back to normal. that was a month ago. now recently i was driving and my gas light came on, but i still had like a gallon of gas left. then same thing happened, when i stepped on the gas it had no power, this time the check engine light stayed on. when i put gas in the car it confirmed that i still had 1 gallon of gas in there. after i filled up the car got power back again but my check engine light stayed on. what do u guys think happened? why did the power cut off when i still had 1 gallon of gas left? has this ever happened to any of u? please let me know.

you were on the track? gas may not be getting sucked out of the tank when you only have a gallon left...you should really not let it get that low
also you could have damaged the fuel pump when it ran out or worse the power cut out at a higher RPM due to no gas, and you kept it in gear...no more oil into the engine at high rpms...not good at all, although the remaining lubrication should protect it
