Unhappy Check engine light of Rx8 (Need help! Thank you!)

My car is a 2005 Rx8. The code of the light is
P0661 SSV solenoid valve control circuit low ON 2 CCM ′ (See DTC
P0661 )
P2259 AIR solenoid valve control circuit low ON 2 CCM ′ (See DTC
P2259 )
P0336 Eccentric shaft position sensor circuit range/performance problem
ON 1 CCM ′ (See DTC P0336 )
The Mazda said I need a new secondary air injection system for this car. What's this? An air pump? They want charge me $770, that's too expensive. And my car burn the engine oil so fast. I just change oil last month, but after no more 500miles, it runs out. Is this the problem of secondary air injection system? I am in Houston, has anyone here can fix this problems please leave me the message.Thank you for help.

Out of those 3 codes..the eccentric shaft one would be the one I would wonder about most. How does the car run?

First thing I would do is check the wiring going to the solenoids and see if something has caused a bad connection....maybe something was gnawing on the wires back there ...I would also check the ESS sensor wires as well....

Reset the ECU and the ESS profile...( disconnect battery...foot on brake pedal for 10 seconds....reconnect battery....20+ brake stomps till the pressure guage sweeps) and see what comes back for codes...all of those codes will come up if the tech unplugs and replugs those connectors if the key is on

What do you mean by "run out"? Completely gone, or a lower level on the dip stick?

i have a p0661 code as well and i am told it is the valve inside my intake stuck open. only thing im experienceing is worse fuel economy, not necessarily less power. i also use alot of oil and dont mind topping it off every other week or so.

I have that code as well. Mine keeps clearing itself and coming back. other wise I have no other issues and am still trying to figure it out why. did you find an answer to your problem?

If you're handy with tools, here is the DIY I made for replacing the solenoids.

Had this code pop up for me as well (0661 or 0662) SSV cicruit low, bank 1 and I cleared it and it only shows up as a pending now...

Can I still drive it awhile till I get it to my mechanic? What affects will this have? Thanks in advance.

@ MC, this thread is 18 months old....

A pending code is one that the ECU saw, but is not sure about. It will either clear it or set the CEL, depending on what happens the next few times. SSV is your tuned intake. The advice earlier on, in 2011, was to check and clean the connectors. Good advice here.

I have the same problem on my 2005, getting under the hood this weekend and see if we can get it fix, but I do have loss of power at top end RPM.

Did you have it scanned for codes, or do you have just the symptoms?

Yes I already had the codes scan and it reads p0661, this morning it ran good at first and no problem hitting redline, but 10 minutes later after a stop at the gas station it ran shitty again after 5k RPM's..
