You forgot to add the price of $3,594... According to the RX-8 Fun Book you must purchase a RX-8 in Germany to be eligible to purchase the watch or they won't sell it to you even if you do have the cash lying around.. It is a sexy watch and the little rotor on the left side evidentally spins with the movment of the second hand...

I actually just bought one of these from a German retailer. $1620 shipped to me as a birthday present to myself (sometimes no longer having a spouse is a good thing). See other thread on this topic.
The US Sinn retailer sold the last one over the summer. No longer produced (one year only). The first 888 were produced with red hands and given to the first purchasers of the RX8. The rest of the year's production have the yellow hands.
I found four new ones still available - one in Spain (would not ship outside Spain), one in UK for around $1,900 (would not ship outside UK, though I had a buddy in London who could get it for me), one in Singapore for $2,180 shipped to me (though not an authorized retailer - made me nervous).
I'm supposed to get it by 10/31.
Attached my favorite pic of the watch that I've seen so far.
Brand: Sinn
Series: 303 RX-8
Reference: 303.024-303_RX_8-SET
Movement: Mechanical automatic movement, Valjoux 7750, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 25 jewels.
Functions: Hour, minute, small second, day, date, chronograph.
Indications: Day and date at 3, small second at 9.
Dial: Black
Case: Stainless steel (approx. Ø 41mm, thickness 16.5mm, weight 87grams), sapphire crystal glass, water-resistant to 200m.
Watchband: Stainless steel bracelet.

yeah thanks. i've always wanted a good quality mechanical watch with automatic winding and had never pulled the trigger on one. there are various driver's watches that look great. when i saw this one, having a great looking watch that commemorates my rx8 pushed me over the edge! can't wait to see it in person.

It definitely is a lovely watch. I too have been trying to get away from "regular" battery operated watches, and getting into automatics. But having a watch in the thousands is a bit prohibitive to me. But one can always dream.
BTW, if anybody on the board actually owns one, I'd love to see a little video on the rotor turning with the second hand!

Not a fan.
Now here is a watch!
Infact, it's the lightest mehcanical watch ever made. Uses Aluminium-Lithium alloy, copper, magnesium, and titanium. Features Tourbillon movement. F'in incredible. Production of 25 at $380k a piece.
The RM009 Felipe Massa (F1). Made specifically for Massa because he has been wearing the RM006 in all the grand prix's this year.

People will cut your arm off for a real Rolex, just imagine this one. It probably comes with a fake arm you wear the watch on in anticipation of someone using a chainsaw on your bicep and running away, ugly overpriced watch (not to mention your friggin arm) in hand.

I thought people might care because it's car related. Overpriced is a matter of perspective though. I think a lot of these watches are well worth what they cost. Certainly a watch like that will only appreciate in time. I'd take it over an exotic car anytime.
Here is another article on a favourite watch of mine, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon.

THe man who designed it, the shaggy *** dude near the bottom, is pure genious. This is one of the most impressive man made things I have ever seen.
