Is it Christmas Eve? No its RX-8 eve!

So I'm sitting here at 11:30 at night, already mentally driving home (well, to every single person I know's home and/or work) tommorow. I have an appointment at 1:00 to finally get my '8!

I just want to run this past you, although it is 11:30 and no one will probably reply until after I purchase my '8.

I'm getting a Titanium Gray 6spd w/ Touring Package, Navigation, spoiler, and spare tire for 30,400. Edmunds.com lists invoice for this setup at 30,900, so I'm $500 under invoice...should I haggle any further?

Sigh...I've been living vicariously through you guys for the past months, and FINALLY I get to live the dream myself. Hopefully I'll be posting great road stories soon...

Well Edmunds is telling me that the 6 spd (24,659) with touring (2,409), nav (1,721), spoiler (285), and spare (320) invoices at 29,914 with destination charge (520). And others are paying 32,007. Are you sure you don't mean GT? For GT I think it's an excellant deal. For touring it still looks OK.

Tack on another $200-300 for the actual spare tire itself, its not included with the mounting kit.. The $320 is only for the mounting kit.

the spare tire is something most people will likely want to skip.

the car comes with a fix-a-flat pump, and mazda has 24 hour free road side assistance standard.

I only put in the spare for 100 mile or more roadtrips. SO if your not gonna do that much long distance, save yourself the money.

BTW, the 300 from the dealer on a new car is both tire and braket. Only if you get it afterwards is it separat.

I also have AAA roadside assistance, with towing of up to 72 miles, but the spare is nice to just go about town for short distances to get a tire fixed.

However, I guess I didn't really even think of it, but the dealer listed the spare tire as part of the car, but it should be pretty damn simple just to remove it and cut $300 of the price, correct?

Yes - if you delete an item before delivery, it should come out - call them first or it will delay your paperwork a LONG time at the dealer......

IMO the spare just takes up valuable trunk space.

Does the spare tire kit include a jack? Just curious, since I don't have the spare tire, but I found a jack the other day. Doesn't make much sense- no spare tire, but a jack. Is this standard?

The car includes a jack regardless of whether you order the spare kit. Look at the rear edge of the trunk. There's a plastic storage compartment. That is where I store my lug nut key.

Well, its official...I am truly a member of the RX8 club!

So sweet...I have to walk out into my garage every few minutes just to double check that its still there! I find keeping it at or about 3k RPM is pretty hard...the urge to crank it up another few (several) thousand RPM is quite tempting.

Now to go figure out the damn signature thingymabobber...
