yeah if that's what they want to think is that their little civic's are better that's fine trust me i deal with enough honda owners where I live(especially goin to car school here in Orlando everyone thinks honda's are the fastest things in the world) but to all their own whatever u like is what you should get I personally will not drive a honda...others may but it is all personal preference

Huge hole is huge
I love how they are saying the car is junk.
Why is it junk? Oh right, it's sexier than your car, and something you can't afford to boot.
If you don't fall in the category of that, then you are just being a hater. Drink some more hateraid, and gtfo.

I gave up trying to understand these people a long time ago. You just have to realize it's not worth getting worked up about. Let 'em talk all the **** they want, they drive worthless (and sometimes nonexistent, in Allison's case) civics.

I still want a civic hatch though, those can be made insanely fast and very fun to drive with some proper suspension, but in all seriousness I think I'd get a miata over a civic.

Yup. No point in being upset at these people. Just gotta laugh at em.
I loved my old accord. It was a fantastic car. It was still a deathtrap compared to my 8. For a week after i got my 8 I left my car sitting on the street. I had to move it, and after a week with the 8, i swear to god I thought the brake pedal was going to go all the way to the floor and I'd just keep going.

Wut da F Y'all lookin' @!
Now maybe my eyes decieved me but I swear I saw that Allison girl say that she looks at her Civic and knows it has every bit of the potential that the RX8 does. The thoughts that ran through my head are:
1. How did she figure out how to overcome the weight distribution advantage that a RWD car has over a FWD car? I guess it's really easy to get close to the ideal 50/50 balance in a FWD car!
2. Can she point me to a whole lot of FWD cars with huge hp with or without engine swaps? I know a lot of RWD cars can make monster numbers and have yet to see a FWD car reach the overall hp handling capacity that a RWD or AWD car has made.
Other than that I saw so much ignorant crap on there. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but do chick cars as they called it in there require a lot of maintenance (again as some of them said in there). Also I don't know if this still holds true but as far as I know Mazda is still the only Japanese car manufacturer to have won the 24 hr Lemans and that was done with a supposedely unreliable, piece of junk rotary!
I'm not really into calling names but there are a lot of numbskulls over there!

Sometimes pictures speak louder than words:

That's funny, I don't see any Civics racing in the Grand Am series...
Talking about "potential" is a really funny thing. Technically speaking any car has the potential to do anything any other car does with the right about of money, engineering and time. When it comes to cars, if you have the money to do something it's completly possible.
Now, if we are going to examine the two cars from a budget perspective of a single owner or weekend racer then we're talking about totally different things. On a budget of $5,000 say I think the overall road racing potential of the RX8 is going to win hands down because the car is already better engineered than the Civic.
You're looking at a 50/50 weight distributed, mid engine, rear wheel drive vehicle compared to a front engine, front heavy, front wheel drive eco-box. It's going to take more money, resources and design to make the civic perform on par with an RX8 in anything other than straight line racing.
Can it be done? Sure! An RX8 can be a drag racer too but it's just not something people want to pour money into just to say they could do it.
Every car has potential, but not every owner has the capital for that potential to be realized.
Here's a great example!
Here in Phoenix, there's a local guy named Tage Evanson who is a hell of a driver and has a EG Honda Civic...

Tage was one of the FWD cars that particiapted in the Modified Magazine's Time Attack shootout last spring at Firebird Internaional Raceway here in Phoenix. I honestly hate hondas, but I bowed down to this car cause it's a real race car. Tage was on the track against World Racing's Scion TC, Ksport's DC5 Integra Type R and Kraftwerks Honda Fit. The World Racing Scion dyno'd at 600+ whp just to give you one idea of the numbers.
I also participated in a Time Attack event locally where Tage was driving. Tage also competes locally in the SCCA Phoenix autocross which myself, MazdaManiac, and Easy_E1 participate in. This honda would and does eat a slightly modified RX8 for breakfast.
Still, Tage is an excellent driver. That doesn't take away from the fact that "potential" can be realized with the right budget and parts.
Not taking anything away from the RX8 cause I love my car and I'll put it up against any honda on the track regardless. Still, the fools on that website are trying to make the case that their grocery getting civic stands a chance and it simply doesn't.

This is exactly why I don't care for people who hate on 8's, although over on bimmerforums they like my 8.
I still want a civic hatch though, those can be made insanely fast and very fun to drive with some proper suspension, but in all seriousness I think I'd get a miata over a civic.

I joined Bimmer forums when I nearly bought a 330i and those guys (and women) don't waste energy bashing other cars, for the most part.

The only good thing about the civic is how ugly and plain it looks. It makes it a super sleeper car , chipped paint , different rims on all corners...i mean who would expect anything from that? Then it hauls *** at a stop light with an engine swap , built engine and a turbo...but wait i can do that with a mini van!
. Tage's car looks cute btw , does saying cute make me gay?

I noticed there's a lot of hate coming from the 240SX/Silvia crowd as well. In my personal experience, dudes with these cars think are second only to Honda fanboys in their douchebaggery. They think that buying the "king of drift cars" makes them so fast and hard that they practically fell out of a Need For Speed game. Nevermind that Sport Compact Car (the ricer douche Bible) tested three Silvias and found them to be incredibly poorly built (from both a factory and mods standpoint) and typically uncontrollable hoon cars, useless anywhere but a skidpad. There was one at school with an aftermarket turbo and Bride racing seats, and when I'd cross paths with it in my 8, the driver would give me such a hardass look of contempt and loathing (complete with engine rev through his trashcan-sized fart exhaust) that I thought he was going to flip me the bird outright.
Not anymore, though. Now it sits broke-*** in the auto shop lot with a blown engine. Guess my car is a LOT faster now.

Fart cans and VTECH YO the definition of a supercar... muahahahaha man u haters learn to drive first and i would honestly luv luv to see ur fly-on-the-wall hondas try to take on a RX8 at a autocross or circuit....thats where driving comes into play...u know that the thing u do with ur left and right leg that keeps a car in motion...right u got it? ok well u big talkers are gonna get smacked silly...u know what they say "Those who laugh last , laugh the loudest" ....

The main problem I see with the Civic SI and many other cars of the same level is that they are just suped up economy cars. An 08 GTI is my daily driver and as great as it is, it is still an economy, fwd hatch at heart. Which is great and all but there are so few built and bread sports cars left when you think about it. That is why I love the 8. It is a sports car first, second and last.

I bet your find the gay comment from allison is prolly because she went out with a guy with an 8, he found her to be such a misery the only thing she deserved and got was a good hoop bashing...hence why she thinks we are all gay.....pmsl
The thing that everyone forgets over here in blighty in the bike scene if you have a honda your seen as gay....AS THEY ARE JUST SO NICE...:-p

people these days just look at cars for how fast they can go in straight line speed. i dont get it... its like they dont ever hang a turn or something. anyways hanging turn is just one thing, but the 8 is an overall balanced car for its price. i think the price on the rx8 is actually fair due to the exterior and interior styling, comfort, and handling. and most importantly people have to understand that the 8 is not made to be a straight line car. and not to say anything bad about any other car, but take an evo for instance... an evo is about the same price as an rx8 GT. an evo is one of the fastest car in this price range, but lack in exterior design, and interior comfort, so all you are paying is for speed. but every car has its purpose...
