Cleaning Clear Plastic over gauges

Just curious, any recommendations for cleaning the clear plastic over your gauges?

On my other cars, I've always just gone in there with a soft towel with some Windex, but usually got swirl/scratch marks over time.

I noticed the dealer cleaned mine but at certain angles, I can see water/cleaner spots and streaks all over them. The gauges on the 8 are small and angled so that they are hard to get your hands in to clean them. Before I reach in there with my fingers and surely leave stratch marks, some feedback from ya'll would be appreciated.

I use the paper Kimwipes which are specifically for optics and plastics. You can buy them at the large eyeglass and camera stores. Be sure to use plenty of cleaner to wet the lenses. Moving dirt around with a dry tissue or cloth is what scratches the lenses. I use plastic lens cleaner that you can buy at any drug store or discount store. After they are clean, I use Plexus clear plastic polish which you can buy at Marine supply stores.

Buying this stuff isn't overkill. You can use the same process on the headlight and taillight clear lenses.

Thanks Magix and dog. The Plexus sounds like a good idea for the lights. I was wiping some bird droppings off the front lens and wondered about scratching them.

Do you think the polish is better than just wax?
