Thumbs up Clear corners

Trying to do some little work to make my 8 look more sporty! are the clear corners really worth the 65.00 at Mazdaparts.com or 85.00 with the stealth bulbs??? just asking because I don't want to waste money...I know some of you fellow drivers have them, just want your 2 cents! thanks

$85 w/ stealth bulbs and get the stealth bulbs for the corner lights as well in the headlights. Makes the car look so much cleaner in my opinon.

I used to use stealh bulb, then I replaced it with LED. I think stealh bulb looks better in cloudy day and LED looks better in clear night day. Anyway that's just my preference.

OMG, yes! You can find lots of examples if you google images of rx-8. The rotary accents are also nice but you really have to close you eyes and just put them on. They're so cheap feeling it's not even funny. If you have the money to blow get them though.

The clear corners are a different shape by the way. Nothing you'll notice except when installing them. I found the CC's amusing also because you actually get to take things apart.

Make sure you pull out the reflectors, it's a PITA to do but the lighting looks better in the end.

EDIT: hey does anyone here know how to install them? or if they come with directions? I tried searching in the DIY forum, but no results came up... thanks again

No directions but it's pretty easy to do. turn the wheels inwards depending on what side your working on, unbolt the 2 bolts on the wheel well near the corner light, then unscrew the bolt on the corner light then snap it off. you'll figure it out easily.

This guy is definitely legit, I had my stuff in 5 days in Mazda packaging...

Stealth bulbs can be bought @ www.autolumination.com pretty darn cheap too. I put these in and they look really nice...

They light up so bright orange at night, really stands out.

I have the clears on my VR (the most hideous colors of them all, supposedly ), and they look great. Really helps the looks.

And since I'm nice, here's the DIY: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-side-marker-clear-corner-lights-installation-10379/

This one is a no brainer IMO. Clear corners are a must have item. You'll be glad you did it,even on a VR

I ended up putting super white LED's in there. Now the front of my car looks awesome. Everything matches.

i've been pulled over at least 8 times, only the first 2 times with good reason (speeding).

once because i "didnt have a front license plate...better get that fixed" (strange, i thought i had one) but as soon as the cops left i looked...and lo and behold I DID have a front license plate.

Once i got pulled over and the cop took a Carl's Jr. table order number off my dashboard. Then i got pulled over (literally) 30 feet down the road by a different cop, who apparently had no reason because he felt embarrassed when i told him i had JUST been pulled over.

Once i was followed from the freeway offramp to my house, and pulled over right in front of it. he left me alone when i told him i lived there.

there are more, but ive had my "bad luck" with (more like suffered the imcompetence of) police. i dont want to take any chances lol!

68 Chevy Nova
primer grey 78 camaro
86 Plymouth Gran Fury (which i'd see more as an old man car)

anyway, sorry to thread jack!!!

Light output from the stealth bulbs is pretty low, if that matters to you. Personally, I went with amber refractor style LED bulbs from v-leds.com. I'm really happy with them.

VR (& yellow) hides the amber lens pretty well, IMO. The other colors really make the amber sidemarkers an eyesore. Strakes make the biggest difference, in the low cost category, so I'd recommend that 1st if you don't have them. Strakes & CC's are extremely easy & quick to install, and both have DIY's here. Search the entire forum, b/c some DIY's are in sections other than Tech Forum/DIY.
