here's the thing: A car should be one color, which is the color of the paint. All other colors should be chrome (badges) and red/white for lenses. That's why all the newest cars have only red/white lenses and not amber. Amber looks old. Whire and red look like the car is made in the 2000s.
Probably why the higher-end BMWs, Audis, etc chnage the stock rear lights to just red/white and no orange.

Most high end cars come in US spec and rest of the world spec. US regulations require that there be an amber light and reflector at the front corner. The reflector part of this is the key, that's why you don't see clear corners with amber bulbs. Most of the pics that are posted above are US spec. Euro spec cars will have either a clear corner with amber bulb or in some cases nothing at all (Euro and JDM regulations require a side repeater, which in most cases is the small oval light behind the front wheel).

Euro spec (side repeater is clear LED strip behind front wheel):

US spec:

Euro spec (Ferrari does still use an amber lense, but it's tiny and behind the front wheel on the Euro spec car)

US spec (BMW just puts a amber reflector on the US car, it already has an amber corner light, so all that's needed is the reflector and they can be separate):

Anyway, you get the point. The rest of the world is certainly moving away from amber lenses... let's face it, they aren't pretty. They are still required on new cars in the US and that's why we have amber corners and the rest of the world has clears.

I agree that the auto industry is moving away from amber side markers and side turn signals and rear turn signals.

Actually, I think the amber looks better in lots of those pics.

Blue and white is a very Jewish color combination. I've seen lots of Jewish things in blue and white, including many talit, and my bar mitzvah yarmulkes in blue and white. The colors of the State of Israel are blue and white. The original colors of the tsitsit, before the blue thread was lost, were blue and white.

Anyway, the Jewish "anti-semite" here recommends people go back and watch Blazing Saddles again.

An australian blue RX-8 has a orange corner!

So I guess when it is rare, it is tasteful.

heh heh. The old, "If you want to make Jewish jokes you need to convert." routine.

In defense of your accuser, Krankor, I have noticed, particularly in the news from Europe, a resurgent anti-semitic undercurrent. We should all be sensitive to this sort of thing and your post could have been taken either way. (hence my post after yours.)

If Blazing Saddles wasn't anti semitic (anti everything!), I dont know what is.

Awesome post, Aipex8! I love the smartass remarks by you other guys. It's nice to see a board where people can take a joke.

Yes, the old McLaren looks great- but it would look greater and more up to date with clears.

Bought em b/c I couldn't stand how much the orange seemed to "jump out" at me. Still considering blacking the clears out. But it's a gigantic improvement over the amber.

I know the Israeli flag is blue and white, and so are the other religious artifacts you mentioned. But Israel does not hold proprietary rights to the color combination. My old HS colors were blue and white and I don't think we had more than 2-3 Jewish students. I wasn't calling you a ****, I was just wondering what you meant by "too Jewish." Maybe it's your own personal association, the colors with your religion...but just reading it on a scren, it "read" kind of racist. The problem online is, it is hard to tell an authors tone, thus intent. Like I said, I didn't mean to accuse or flame...just wanted to know what you meant by the comment, is all. Just remember that we are online and random comments can be misinterpreted all the time.

I've seen Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles" and I detest the movie! It is the epitome of racism and ignorace. There was not one good joke, scene, or line in the entire movie. It should be burried on the moon along with its director, IMHO. The world would fair much better without idiots like Brooks.

LeChayim!
