Close to 1300 miles and I haven't had to add oil?

Overfill is not a good thing to do, but in a rotary it's not really a bad thing either (as it is in piston engines where cam's will froth excess).
3k and worry free.

I like to keep my oil level at or between the top dot and line. To much oil is bad so do not overfill your oil. Depending on the way you drive you might not have to add oil as soon as others. Do not worry the dip stick does not lie. Also i change my oil and oil filter every 3k miles. At first mazda said 5k and then they cahnged it to 3750 miles but i am sticking with the 3k

The time between when you have to add oil varies a lot between cars, as well as with the season, temperature, driving style, etc. Mine doesnt usually ever need top-offs between 3000 mile oil changes. So...chill....

Does anyone ever get the "light" mine tends to know whenever I'm within half mile from home then turns on. I check the dipstick and it's about the Half mark. I added oil, it goes away for now. So, does youuuuuuur light come on?
#29
Mine has never got low enough to trigger the light. But I check it at every fill up and top off accordingly, so that's why.

Never had the light trigger. I usually check it every fill up.

using a high viscosity oil makes you get worse gas mileage by a little bit, I see little reason to go so high unless it's very hot out. if you use the 5-20 you should be fine.
My engine seems to use a lot of oil, close to a quart over the last 1000 miles, and I'd rather it used more than less to be perfectly honest, cats are cheaper than engines. I do tend to run the engine in the 3-4k range tho even when cruising, I feel like I'm stressing the engine a bit going any lower since there's so little torque.
I'd run premix in my gas if I were you soap, just for ***** and giggles if nothing else. oh and i'm paranoid about my engine since it's my first rotary, you might want to take that into acount when listening to me.

I remember when I went for an oil change, when it was all said and done, I asked what type of oil they put in, so if I needed to add some, I could add the same oil. They told me they put a synthetic and non synthetic blend in. I was an idiot for not asking beforehand. I got pissed. The book says not to ever use synthetic, and I got worried =X

What is premix? When do I add oil? I'm thinking of a new exhaust, which one is good? I heard that the K&N Intake gives me +20 HP! Is that true? What kind of oil do I use? Is our car turboed? Someone said my car came with pistons, is that true?

Exactly. Viscosity is a measurement of flow resistance, higher being more resistant.
5w-20 is recommended by the engineers who designed the engine and its related systems, and that's what I use.

5w-20 is recommended by the engineers who designed the engine and its related systems, at the behest of MNAO marketing people who were concerned about mileage figures and emissions, and that's what I use.

Also, for what it's worth, the '09s seem to be using oil fairly liberally.

Indeed, and I now plan to go to 5w-30 upon the end of my 8's hibernation.
