Cool Closing the trunk

Do you push the lid closed, or just kind of slam it using the inside handhold?
At first, I'd lower it nearly shut with the interior grip, then push it closed with my hand on the top of the trunk. But I started getting picky about fingerprints. (Black car, y'know.)
So now I grab the handhold and just sort of execute a quick downward pull. But I always feel like this move should be followed by a cry of "heee-YAAAA!" and I wonder if other people will think I'm mad at my car.

You can actually dent the trunk by closing it hard with you hand on the lid. Use the handle, but make sure you let go in time.

I use the the quick downward pull move, trying not to close it too hard, but quickly enough I can yank my hand out.

"heee-YAAAA!" --- you're killing me... LOL

Yeah, like the other person said, you can use the handle and quickly remove your hand on the down-swing. Also, try putting your fingertips on the chrome-plastic Mazda logo...works great. And definitely don't put your fingers on the top of the trunk. Even if you think you're pressing the trunk lightly, the fingertips can put subtle almost imperceptible indentations in the thin trunk sheet metal.

Hahaha, a whole lot of my friends are afraid of me closing my trunk because of that handle. Most of them won't do it themselves and demand that I do it. (Nothing wrong with that!) I've never had a car that makes people take a couple steps back every time I give it a close :D

the stock wing doesnt way it down like the INGs wing, so I lower the trunk lid till its almost closed and then push down on the stock wing to close it. (my hand is off the wing by the time the trunk actually closes and locks)

put your ***** on it. The enormous weight will surely bring the trunk down. If you cannot do this, you cannot consider yourself a man.

IF I could get entirely in the trunk, there wouldnt be much sliding going on.

I meant kids can use it when sneaking them into the drive-in.. ooh, did I just date myself?

if the kids were in the trunk..., wouldn't they die of heat exhaustion? after a 15 minute trip home last summer we found our gallon of ice cream melted. thankfully it was upright and double bagged.

it's funny, but my wife's toyota matrix has a similar handle, but it's on the bottom lip insted of the inside. so there's not as much risk of amputation.

Yeah, what he said works all the time. If the logo starts to get damaged then it's a great reason to de-badge.

MS wing adds just the right amount of weight that once you get the lid halfway down, it closes by itself from there with just the right thunk.

A long while back, someone on here reported that they bent the lid using the handle/rapid slam method (it's aluminum). Those little hydraulic struts put up more resistance against fast motion than slow.

Use the handle to slowly lower the lid and give the final push using the logo.

It's not aluminium, it's steel.

The only aluminum panels we have are the hood and rear doors. The trunk is steel.
