MD cobb tuning question

before i get flamed yes i looked and no i couldnt find the right answer. been looking for at least 2 years on off.

i got my cobb tuner like 4 years ago, i used it for about a year on the stage 1 tuning and it ran fine and i liked it. but one faithful night the MAF sensor said screw you and stopped working. after doing modifications to my exhaust and intake i havent been able to run the stage 1 tuning. when i do program for stage 1 the engine wont start. recently ive become more and more inclined to tune.

1. is there something i can do to the maf to let it run stage 1?
2. is there a different programmer/ piggy back?
3. what other options do i have for tuning.

i saw some names over the course of my search but most were for turbo/ supercharged 8's.

any help would be great.

you can proceed to flame and troll this post now.

umm... perhaps you did not uninstall correctly.

Anyhow, look up Mazda Maniac.

MazdaManiac HOME

He is the only one to help you.

AND you better follow instructions specifically.

The service will take time so do not expect this to be a quick fix as he is very busy.

The Cobb stage 1 is fine and your car should run fine on it. No one has ever documented any problems with it. Is it an ideal tune? No, but it should work fine. If it does not then you are having other issues. You can also load the stock style and others offer by Cobb to test it. But it is common for it to idle poorly after loading a new tune. But it should start no problem and any rough idling issues shoudl clear up as the ECU re-learns.

If you did uninstall it and it is still not working then you have other issues that need to be diagnosed.

im running it on stock now. the issue i had before was the MAF sensor was bad. once i replaced it i could run +1 but only for a limited time. It wont even start with +1 installed. is there a different MAF sensor i could get? not sure how that works completely. I did find a thread about voltages on the MAF but im not smart enough or qualified enough to mess with that.

Do you hold the rpm at 3500RPM for 15 Sec then 4500 RPM for 15 seconds when you do a reflash, Then let it idle? It helps for me.
