Cold weather and wash frequency...

hi all

just bored at work and wondering the habits (and how often)some of you detail your car in the freezing *** winter. Granted I'm in texas and it only gets to the 20's 30's here lately but thats *** cold to me.

My car is super *** filthy due to the snow and ice and crap. I need to wash it but i refuse to take it to a quickie place and I refuse to pay some crazy amount to have someone else do it. (i know they would **** something up)

Planning to wash its *** every once or twice *** weeks to keep the salt off the paint's ***. Anything longer than 4 dirty *** weeks, the crappy *** salt will eat its *** through the paint. Then we really got an *** of a problem.

I live in Pittsburgh PA and still wash my car once or twice a week throughout winter. (Dont think I'll be driving the 8 in the snow, but have had other cars in the past). I just get bundled up in clothes, go outside in the driveway and use hot water. No way my cars are getting brushed at the gas station or from another car wash.

You TX people are woosies. I remember living there one winter. It was in the 50s and I had a shorts and a sweatshirt on. There were people wearing parkas looking at me like I had 3 heads.

I take mine to a touchless wash or a soft cloth wash.

I haven't washed my car in about a week, it's dirty, and it's getting to me. I'm just going to get it done sometime soon with some daylight so I can get some sun, and just deal with the cold water. Then Z-8 any water spots.

i rather be extremely cold than extremely hot though, once your hot, you can be naked and still be hot, once your cold, just pile on the clothes.

I'm with him. I always wear shorts, sandals, and a "maybe" a long sleeved shirt. (if it's actually kinda nippy)People just stare at me in awe.

i usually do a major detailing of my 8 around the 2nd week of november. Being in chicago, thats roughly when it gets cold and snow starts falling. I have a jeep as my daily driver for the winter and take out the 8 when its nice outside and no snow. If it gets dirty during that time i'll just run it through the car wash and it stays pretty nice until spring

I usually wash above freezing temps 32F.....Usually 2x a month depending on the weather and temp. If it snows....i usually wait 3-5 days until all the snow, salt, sand clears up a little bit before washing the car...less crap kicking up on freshly washed paint. I'm usually the first one out there hosing off and washing a car in the winter. If i can't get to washing the car for whatever reason, the car gets sprayed with water esp under the wheel wells to get rid of excess sand, salt, etc.

during the winter i go to a touchless car wash to get the salt and sand off of the car. this way i can still get it clean but it just uses the water jets and never touches the car to scratch the paint.

I live in Louisville, KY so winter is "usually" not too bad ... although, it was 15 degrees with a wind chill of 6 this morning.

I usually just wait until the temperature is warmer and take it to a good touchless place. No way I would let one of those places with the brushes or soft cloths near the car.

During the winter months I will check the weather forecast and look for days that are "warmer" than others. I will also look for several sunny days in a row.

wow, just thinking aout washing my 8 and freezing my *** off just makes me want to keep my *** inside curled up on the ***-couch wrapped in my ***-blanket and keep my *** out of the freezing-*** cold weather.

My 8's *** is pretty clean since I keep an ***-cover on it when I am not driving it's red-***.
