Colored keyed front grill panels to match inside colored seat inserts.

I want to get a black RX-8 with black interior and either red or blue colored seat accent inserts… but I’ve noticed that all of the Photoshop attempts (mine included) of creating a colored black version – that the aggressive front end grill styling and shape gets lost in the dark.

Hey, I know that sometimes I can be way-out, but I had this idea of taking the front air-intake grill out and painting them to match the color of the seats or trying a chrome version.

What does everyone else think about this as a request to Mazda? Have I lost it?

Anyone interested in making this an aftermarket item – You know where to find me, I’ll help consult on advertising and marketing if you can make a set for me :D

With a red accent to match the red seat inserts (my favorite choice for the seats)

that looks kinda trick. its (imo) the best of the three. it definetly brightens the front some.

yeah, that's why I presented it first, but actually it was my last idea after reviewing the red and blue versions.

Thanks, the chrome with red accents are probably my favorite too ... although changing the original black on black front loses that certain "stealth" appeal Guess I need to see a black RX-8 in person :D

the thing about PS'ed jpg's is that they don't show the minute textural and reflective differences you'd easily precieve when looking at the real thing. the plastic grill and intake inserts will really show up against the darker, smoother, and shinier black paint of the body.
i wouldn't worry about it... really kick-in-the-teeth colouring like that just says "trying too hard" to me, but maybe that's just because i've seen too many yellow-spray-painted rice boy grills... but a stripe is a GREAT idea... i'd like to see something tapered, from the trailing corner of the headlight... i do like the chrome look though, that's HARD CORE badass: i'd love to see an 8 with super-thin vertical grill bars (super old school style...)... the black is more subdued, so maybe i'd go with that...

It's a tad much.. to get a paintjob like that its going to cost more and I'm not willing to pay it.

Personally I'm a big fan of a standard color that looks nice and classy over colors that tend to lean towards rice

The red one ain't half bad. It'd look better as a honeycomb pattern though, IMHO.
I wouldn't get it regardless. One of the best things about black cars are they are more subtle, and you have to really look to see some design details. I'm all about low-key.

Thumbs up Thanks for all of the feed-back

Sometimes ... what I tend to think is a great idea (in my imagination)... suddendly doesn't seeam as strong as I thought it would be (the solid red and blue might be alittle to much) ... although the chrome with the matching accent color edge still has a nice touch ... but this waiting to see an actual real live RX-8 (in any color) is driving me mad! :D I just want to be driving my own!

If I have some free time, I might try "Photoshoping" black front grils with different accent colored edges ... I'm not sure how that will look until I see it ...

I find that reality is usually perfect ...

...Of course when reality isn't - there's always art!

I'm sure your right about actually see a black RX-8 in person. Normaly I'm all about the Flat Black with Gloss Black "look!"

Funny, you should mention the vertical grill "look" - I was actually thinking of trying to make that ... also! Well I'll just have to see how much free time I have to myself this holiday ...
