Well when you have multiple drivers on one policy, any changes in your rate will affect the both of you since you share a policy and the premium is combined for all vehicles and drivers. Now if you take yourself off the policy after your accident, then your accident will follow you and when she renews her policy or lets them know you have been taken off she will get a discount. Basically, as long as you are still on the policy she will feel the effects of any accidents or tickets you may receice.

If you're also insured as an occasional driver on the 8, your rates will go up. She might lose discounts such as claims free, though. If you only have coverage for your aunt, hers will go up.

OK cool if I in an accident I will just pay for w/e our insurance goes up by. I just werent sure what will happen after get my own insurance in the future, now that you explains that I feel that I should have no problem with that.

Now, Kids list their parents as primary driver even when they are going to college..that seems to be ever every common practice, so it shouldnt be that bad right?

Insurances companies consider you a household member even tho you're away at college. It's not a situation where b/c you're at school you can't be listed under the family insurance. Technically, when you enroll and live on-campus you home address doesn't change. The school address is considered a temporary address.

If you're going to some school that's in a sketchy hood and you have some claim (vandalism or some such thing) & they see you're in a higher risk area it would prlly lead to a rate increase.

*note: I only know about insurance from the outside. It sounds like nubee420 might have an insiders perspective.

Going to college, insurance companies extend your parents' policy (if you're included) to the college. That's why you don't have to buy separate insurance to protect your belongings while you're living away at college - at least that's how it works here in Ontario. Which is also why you can still insure your car under their policy.
