Considering buying an RX8--what kind of deals are available?

No, it was my fault. I wrote 15k miles a month when I should've said year!
I truly wish I could've bought the RX8, and yes, a GT Mustang would've been better, but the V6 is not bad. I just didn't want to shell out an extra $6k for a car that would also be primarily a commuter car, so gas mileage is somewhat of a consideration as well.
The 2011+ manual Mustangs have a very problematic MT82 transmission that is very clunky and can lock you out of gears in certain conditions due to poor synchro design or other flaws. It's nothing like the RX-8 shifter. But this car does have a ton of grip (0.96g lateral max!!!!) and does accelerate pretty fast. Compared to the RX8, even the v6 feels like all "muscle" (and no sport). But it will do for now! At least it is comfortable, and the rear seats feel as big as the RX-8's, although there is no rear door.

Sorry for being late to the party, but I just saw this thread. Here's a data point for the permanent record.
Back in February, I picked up a '10 Sport that had been sitting on the lot for almost a year for $300 under invoice. With the $3500 factory rebate that was going at the time, it was $21,764 + TTL.

I dunno. Have you looked lately? I just test drove a 2009 RX8 GT with 14k miles (manual) which I loved, but it was like $23,998 + TTT. That price seems very typical of what I've been finding on AutoTrader. And usually at that price they have even more miles!
Hell, just to get to $18k you're talking '05-'06 with over 50k miles.
