Considering Coming From an '02 IS300 to '04 RX-8
I'm considering this switch.
Some questions if you don't mind:
- hows the Mazda reliability? honestly.
- hows the RX-8 on gas?
- whats the RX-8 run in the 1/4 stock?
- how does the RX-8 respond to modifications?
Thanks!

Gas--not so good, i get 13-15 in the city and low twenties on the highway but i also drive it hard, depends on driving habits i guess
1/4-- like 15 or if your lucky/good high 14s
mods--not to many out there yet but some people have gotten 300hp from the renesis

http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coup...ree/index.html There are some stock performance specs. To get into the high 13's a Greddy Turbo kit will do the job.

I just bought mine 10 days ago, so it's still early.
I love this car. Honestly. Balance is the best word I can use to describe it. Balance in ride comfort versus handling; balance in practicality and sporting capabilities; balance in power and driveability, even in traffic; balance in racing looks without boy-racer looks (a much more sophisticated look, especially in stock or sport package dress).
The steering response and weight, ride comfort, excellent manual transmission fluidity, and ergonomics are all excellent.
As a bonus, everyone stares at it on the road, and I have gotten a lot of nods and inquiries from others. The car looks great, and in a classy way.
I am totally satisfied with this purchase. And by the way, I test drove the IS300 a year ago and could not justify the higher price tag and (IMO) harsh ride quality (on Michigan roads).
I have averaged 289 miles per tank on three tanks of fuel so far in mostly mixed driving. So, not great, but not as bad as I've read about, either.
Did I mention I love this car? But it's early. We'll see how my favorable opinion holds up.
