Constant Oil light, loss of power

New member here,

I am currently on my 2nd RX-8 GT. I love this car as I'm sure most of you know why. I have had this 2nd RX-8 for about 3 weeks now and it is begining to bother me. My last RX-8 was an '04 GT with 70K, I traded it in for basically, the same car but with 22Kmiles on it.

I have about a 80 mile roun trip daily for work and I have noticed lately that my oil light has been coming on intermittently and that the actual power of the car is slowing to a civic.

I'm used to bringing the car to 5000RPM in 1st, letting it sit there for a second, then mashing the accelerator to the floor causing the back tires to spin out from under me, car flying almost sideways waiting for the next shift, fly the car into 2nd and the wheels begin to spin again after only having traction for a mere second. Hit 60+mph and slam it into 3rd gear only to have the tires chirp for the last time and rocket the car off to my boring pain in the *** job in Dallas traffic.

The new car...ugh, no tire spinning, complete lag on acceleration. Took it back to the Mazda speed dealership and stated just that. Personally I figured the previous owner might have used regular oil instead of syn or syn blend, regular gas instead of prem(still up for debate if there's a difference). So they had the car for the day and did a handful of work, replaced spark plugs/coils, etc, new air filter, miniscule things.

No new oil pump? fuel pump? fuel filter? I figured it would be these items that were causing massive slow down. I get the car back with a new tune up and the car is slightly faster, for a day or two. Have an appointment to take the car back on Tuesday, hopefully get it back before the 4th of July.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with their RX-8? Oil lights, full oil, car slowdown for no obvious reason, etc??? Anything would be a help.

After a drive look under the car and see if your Catalytic Converter is RED HOT. Better to do it at night.

Did the dealer do a compression check?

Non-synthetic oil is recommeded by Mazda. Type of oil used shouldn't make a difference with only 22K, I'm guessig.

Do a search and rest your PCM.

It remembers the old driver was a Grandma.

Make sure to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.
