Contest time!!
How would you like to see one of these on your doorstep, which will contain one of these ? We've got 8 RX-8 Promo CDs to give away, and since we're picking up the postage you're going to have to work for one of them, so here's the deal:
In 250 words or less, describe what owning and driving the first US-imported and retailed RX-8 would be like and post below.
That's it.
You can go the serious angle and describe it's expected superb handling and looks, or you can go the comedy route with engine fires/recalls and doors falling off, it doesn't matter. The point is to be creative and spark emotion for the RX-8 in 250 words or less.
If you have no intention of getting an RX-8 or recently bought another car instead, please do not post an entry. These discs are hard to come by, and those who put down deposits or are sure-fire getting one deserve them. But going through the posts and looking up those who already put a deposit down would make it unfair for those who don't have the green just yet either. So it's a free-for-all.
Posts will be judged by NOTA -V6 and myself. Winners will be PM'd and announced at the end of the thread. If we don't get enough responses, we'll give them away at the Honda ClubSi forum........................ Just kidding.
Good luck!

I have every desire to go out and purchase an RX-8 on the first available date, but considering that I am attending college, that is a very doubtfull possibility. So on that glorious day as I cruise out of the dealership in the pure essence of rotary powered style, it will be due solely to a deal with the devil. I have no doubt that I will have a serrious moral delema on my mind. That delema is surprisingly not based upon regrets of an evil pact, but rather if I need to place a cd of proper cruising music into the stereo and lose myself to the sound of an electric guitar, or if it is sheer blasphemy to do anything else but turn off the stereo and embrace the gleefull mixture of the road passing underneath and the harmony of the engine. The sun will rapidly lose its battle with the moon as day slips into night. Eventually the sheer extasy of driving will no longer be enough to keep me awake, and I will pull to the side of the road and place my head to the steering wheel. As I wake in a jump I will find myself not alongside the road, but in calculus, the steering wheel replaced with a text book. Oh well.

ooooh....we got a "contendah" here with his first post. :D Remember its creativity that may include humor, drama, sarcasm, technical, etc. But most of all, thinking outside the snoring sport sedan/SUV box, whatever you angle you desire. The prize may be insignificant and not worth the effort to many, but hey, it's free.

Professor...here's my 244 word submission...
-------------------->
At a time when my hormones did the thinking... I test drove a used '82 canary yellow RX-7. I HAD to have it, despite what my brain was telling me. My last year of University, was a sad time, the RX-7 had to sit in the garage unused… tuition/rent/food came first.
After graduation, I was fooled by the marketing hype of HP numbers... I was duped into a Supra Turbo. It had at least double the HP of the RX-7, but was not as fun to drive... Then on to marriage, buying a house and the Supra had to go... But not a tear was shed.
A few years later there is a HUGE mistake clogging the garage, to this day I don’t know how the Ford Expedition, POS ever got there, which the Sierra club says uses as much resources as leaving your fridge door open all year long. Funny thing is it drives like a fridge... But there is good news at the end of the road as the lease is up in January, the timing couldn't be better, so I dream of hitting the road in an RX-8. To once again hear the beautiful zing of a rotary, to "drive" again, to take the long way home, and to be able to justify to my wife that this is practical, as there is also room for the little one.
Once again... it is time to let the hormones do the thinking...

Ode to RX-8
There he is, sitting profile on the delivery drive of my Mazda dealer. Silver with red leather. I look through the double glass doors of my saleman's office and RX-8 beckons then smiles as to say, "yeah baby I'm the S***t you been waiting for." My hands still cramped from signing the contracts. I glance at his muscular body, chiseled with classic lines, buldging shoulders and tight a**. My eyes glance at his midsection taking careful note of his suicide doors. Yeah...a small waist and a cute face. I like that. His 18" wheels makes me think of his other big parts. I walk out to the drive and my salesman attempts to school me on his functions, but I say, "that's unecessary sir, I'm quite familiar with his physique." He hands me the keys and I slip into seat. His supple leather is like sweet cologne to my nose. I turn the key and RENESIS springs to life with that familiar sewing machine like whine that only a rotary can produce. I begin to slip into his gear and push down his erect emergency brake handle and he tells me, "Today you become a man baby." and I become like a nervous school kid because I want it as much as he does. We drive off together, he my crowned prince and I his faithfull concubine. :D

Why I bought the RX8:
I have been reading about and test driving RX7's since they first hit the US. But I never bought an RX until this one. The RX-8
is the heart and soul of Mazda poured into a car. The normally aspirated rotary Renesis high winding horsepower powers the amazing body styling of the car and as a benefit my whole family can ride in it too.
I'll proudly buy the RX-8 because I believe the people at Mazda are very passionate about a engine that they will not let die.
Give me liberty and a rotary engine!

The year is 1964. A young man sees a story about a new car coming out. He falls instantly in love with it. He’s just recently out of the navy and working as the third generation in his family’s plumbing business. He doesn’t have much money but he goes to his local dealer, puts down as much and probably more than he could afford.
4 months later he drives out of the ford dealer in his 64-½ mustang. Only the 2nd one the dealer had received.
Years later he is married and has a son, everywhere they go in the mustang, the son sits in the seat behind his dad. Windows open, wind in his face, rock n roll on the radio the son learns the sheer joy of driving. When the boy is 9 the dad has to sell the car so he can afford a truck for work.
Over 20 years later the son of the plumbers son is all grown up. Married and hoping to have children of his own. He sees a car called the rx8 that reminds him of the passion his dad shared with him for driving. It might be more than he should spend but he gets one anyway even though he has to wait months to get it. Now he can’t wait too put his child in the seat behind him. He’ll roll down the windows, turn up the radio and pass on that passion for driving to the next generation.

CONTEST!!!!
OK, here goes... that's already 5 words.. no seven.. ahhh crap, I am wasting valuable verbage!!!! Actually, I NEED ONE OF THOSE. I currently drive a sweeeeeeeet black/black 2000 S2000 and am selling it as soon as the RX-8 is available. I have visited this site many, many times and this contest has inspired me to join the forum. I love this car, I love high reving engines and I gots to have me a rotory engine!!! The fact that I will be able to drive an amazing car with my two lil' ones safely tucked behind me sealed the deal... this is the car for me... goodbye S2000 and hello RX-8!!!
HEY!! I have over 125 words left over..... hmmmmm, how to use them most effectively??? ahhh, quotes from my alltime favorite movie.
If you shoot me, you're liable to lose a lot of those humanitarian awards.
Does this proposition entail my dressing up as Little Bo Peep?
"...Put it on underhill"
"ahh Muchas Gracias!"
"Tierra Del Fuego."
Traffic was murder, you know one of those manure spreaders jackknifed on the Santa Anna...God awful mess.
You'll be wearing rubber gloves. Do you own rubber gloves?
I rent 'em. I have a lease with an option to buy.
a shiny quarter for the first person that names this movie!!!

Graphic depiction of the first heartbeat
It's a little new age , but here goes!
One. The apex crosses the intake port. For the first time. I feel the expanse. The swelling of joy in me increases exponentially. Then pressure. Much pressure. Too much pressure. Palpitations. I hear the spark plug against the outer wall, but nay! that's my heart! I exhale for fear that I should burst. When will the other apex come??
Two. The other apex crosses the intake port. For the first time. Enclosed within the womb of the chassis, I wait. Friction point. Spark plug. All hell brakes loose! Fire from two plugs!! Double exhaust emission!!! Inside. Outside. There is symmetry. Symmetry:Symmetry. 50:50.
Three. Hell. Hell in the heart of my beast. For the first time. Raging agony. Marvel at the Zenith!!! ARRGH!!! ShaKinG. FlaME RED. SeArInG FushIA!!! Heat and pressure at their apex! So much flame!! Hope? HOPE!! POWER EXISTS IN THIS DESTRUCTIVE MARVEL!!!!!
My marvel. My power. My beast. My hour.
Four. The apex comes again. For the first time. Tension fades. Falling from the dream. NO! There is no end! The cycle exists! And in the cycle exists marvel! And in marvel, power!!! Cycle breeds symmetry. Inside. Outside. And I breathe again. With my beast. First to tame it. First to ride it. And I breathe again. Leader of a ferocious army of streaks of pure yellow light, INNUMERABLE, I LEAD THE AVATARS!!! And I breathe again.
(any input +ive or -ive would be appreciated, thanx!):D

250 words or less.
Canadian Highways
Canadian highways, treacherous, winding, twisting, hilly with blind corners, and signs that read, “watch for fallen rock” and “moose crossing ahead”.
What better way to challenge the mind, vision, coordination then with a 250 hp earth shattering, ground moving RX-8.
The power, handling and wonderment of my 1st generation 7 challenged me every day on the Canadian countryside roads. Driving the 7 was a pleasure, and the more I drove it, the further and faster I wanted to go.
Will the new 8 do the same? I believe so, with all my heart and soul. The only question now is; what color?
