Well, I for one, do NOT have an RX8.... yet.. but that will change VERY soon. Now you may ask, why should you listen to me?

Simple. Unlike these wannabes ; ) here on the club, I am bending over and taking it like a man to get an RX8.. thats right, I getting SCREWED big time to get into this unbelievably incredible well rounded car.

I am getting rid of a brand new 2500 mile 350Z. Its gonna cost me 7 grand but WTF. I am not going to give up a chance to get what is perhaps the best sports car for the money flat out bar none.

Now am I biased? No F-ing way. Not possible and I mean it.. Im too picky and too critical. I have a choice to get any sports car I want if I seriously wanted and I picked the RX8

But all was not originally rosy.. I had to be shown the way. A while ago it came down to the RX-8 and the 350Z. I fell for the torque in the Z. And the one night stand of a hard on feeling the car gave me. Never mind what she would be like to live with. This was love at first sight!!! WOOOHOOOO! Right?

Wrong. The Z is all about the engine. Period. And its way too heavy, too powerful for its body and it feels like its put together with nuts and tinkertoys. Not sophisticated at all. The seat head rests bars that go into the seat jab you in the back when you press up against them. The engine and transmission clunk and to drive this in traffic SUCKS big time.

The Z is all about ***** to the walls and that it does great. Drive it like you are pissed at the world and Rambo looks like a wussy compared to how you are feeling at the moment and it shines brilliantly.

But when you wake up the next morning you WILL say. WTF HAVE I DONE!!!!!?????

The RX-8 is a sweetie.. its beautiful, and you must give her a little more attention than the other vixen down the road but she will pay you handsomely in return. A gorgeous girl next door that simply wants to be loved more than her japanese cousin.. but returns the affection 10 fold. Your emotional investment is very well protected.

Now, resale is another point.. BUT, if you are like me, you understand that the majority of people in this world are boring drones that live and die like drone fruit flies. Sterile and unimaginative, lifeless and losers in that they think a fender flare on a corolla is a sports car. Cars are about passion. Period.

Understand the rotary and you will be amazed at how any other car can actually drive!

In my opinion, the prospective owner should be qualified to own/drive an RX-8 not the other way around.

I used to live in places like North Bay, Ontario and Chicoutimi, Quebec. -40 temperatures and heavy snowfall in the winter are the norm. I didn't own my RX-8 last winter, but I have a friend who owned one, and it was doable but it was no party. RWD means that you're going to fishtail if you're not careful, and the low ground clearance means that if the roads aren't ploughed you're not going anywhere.

By northern Alberta I assume you mean somewhere like Cold Lake? The RX-8 is a beautiful car, but it just wasn't meant for the harsh conditions of the subarctic. If you have faith in your driving skills, and you're prepared to baby it through a 6 month winter then by all means go for it. Otherwise I would seriously recommend you think about a truck or SUV of some kind.

I have paid 70,000 dollars for my RX-8 and I pay 40 dollars for a quart of oil for it and 10 dollars for a gallon of gas. I think you are still the wannabe

well I live in mid Saskatchewan, and I got myself a set of Blizzak WS60 Tires and I never had the slightest problem with driveability, if you know the car intimately it will behave just the way you want it to (and I mean Intimately *wink*)

but yeah to basically quote the others, theres no feeling like driving one of these cars, I don't think I could ever go back
