copy cat in the neighborhood.

today my wife and i are cruising in the eight, cleaning it and just spending quality time with it, when we come home and guess what is parked infront of our parking spot?

another RX8. a brand new silver eight. mine is lightning yellow (which is better.)

did this guy copy my exquisite taste for motor vehicles or is it pure coincidence? well i guess ill make a new friend and maybe bring someone else to the rx8club.com.

I had a neighbor two doors down from me buy a RX8 4 weeks after I did and a couple months later acted like I had just gotten mine. He was asking me questions like when did you get your car, and making comments like it was a coincidence that we got it at the same time. Yeah hardly.

I left it out of the garage most of the time for the first few weeks and was washing it all the time in the drive way (kinda to show it off). He had to have been admiring it.

Makes me want to move to a different neighborhood.

I think what he is saying is that, its no coincidence that the neighbor bought a rx8. It isn't like you see rx8 everywhere like bmws or accords, thats cool though. In my town of about 150,000 peeps, in addittion to mine, I have noticed two other bb rx8's, not bad if you ask me. Still some uniquiness to the rx8, not that I'm comparing it to some exotic.

One of my good friends just bought an 8,and its the same color as mine. Another friend saw him driving the other day,and he asked me why was he driving my car? I told him that he just bought an 8. Friend says," Wow, he copied you." I say " No,mine's a standard and he got an auto".

That's nothing. I went grocery shopping yesterday and after getting milk, eggs, and bread I noticed everyone else was copying me an buying these items as well. I also noticed they where breathing AIR! The nerve of some people.

I see 8's all the time in my area. 2 yesterday. Not as common as a Camry but not exactly rare either.

Same here. I see at least 3 or 4 every day on my way to work. Those of you thinking that you bought a "rare" car for around $30k are delusional. The car isn't rare, it wasn't designed to be rare, and its pricing point puts it squarely within Average Joe's ability to purchase it. RX-8 owners should hope like hell that it continues to sell well - more sales means more go-fast-goodies and accessories. Bad sales = rotary dies again (see RX-7).

LOL well it is a mass production car so as time goes on you can expect to see them with increasing frequency. A neighbor down my street who I've known for years bought a SS about a year after I got mine. Since then he's ordered every single accessory for his car that I have for mine, and I do mean everything from appearance pieces to rotary billet stereo **** to illuminated shifter, RP short shifter and puddle lights.

It doesn't bother me in the least. Heck if I had it my way every house on my street would have an 8 parked in the driveway
