Current RX7 owner. Looking at RX8's.

Beautiful 7, but I think the 8 will be a better choice for you. They are much more reliable in general. Neither me or my closest friends (we all own 8s) have had any problems with our cars. I've only had mine like 6 months, but I have a fair amount of modification so far and no issues. We'll see how things go when the turbo goes in.
Yea i was there. I would grab some pics for you but don't have any on this computer.

I do think it would be best to go mid-2005 production run or later unless you can assure yourself that an '04 has had all TSB's/programs applied.
The console armrest cover/slider (actually the clips) is a common flaw from rather poor/low cost design. After repair, most of us are now careful not to lean too heavily on the cover when getting in.
The tailight condensation is also a common flaw, but new gaskets resolve same.
A number of other hit or miss issues, but no other common across the board issues.
Here's a link to the TSB's: http://www.finishlineperformance.com....php?pageid=11
The only "recall" was a voluntary emissions one in which we received a new flash and sparkplugs.
