my take on why it happened. 1. cold tires. 2. when you were cut off, you most likely either a) lifted off the throttle b) applied the brakes before you turned. this transfered the weight off the rear end allowing the spin.

glad you're ok, and no one else got hurt, and that you're car ended up with only minor damage.

YEY, we are all celebrating with you.
It's always good news when an 8 gets back on the road.
Did your insh pay for everything - deductible?
Also, take a ddriving course or race school, you'll see the diference it makes to your street driving :-)

G8 to hear your back on the road man, I love my 8 feels after a good tune up. with all due respect everyone, if you never have gotten a tune up do it. Its like 29 year old scotch! Amazing!

Ditto, since you've mentioned it, Loots. Your RX-8 came with high performance summer tires - along with being completely useless and dangerous in snow, all performance summer tires share a characteristic that they get hard and lose grip at near freezing temperatures. A road can be bare and dry at 20F, and it can be like driving on ice if you have summer tires. Lots of people get caught out by this. You really have to take it easier if temps are near freezing and you're driving on summer tires.
