Historically true! Lately though I've been finding that Lexus drivers, and in particular those piloting Lexus SUV's, have dethroned the BMW people at the top of the "I've paid alot for this beast and am entitled to drive any way I please" heap.

"Lexus! We're not just for doctors' wives anymore."

I completely agree! The worst offenders in my experience are the lexus drivers. A very close second (but working hard to take the #1 spot) would be minivans! Then come the bmw drivers.

OP - Machi's right - you can still get it fixed & just pay the deductible, then you will be reimbursed. (duh - since I think (s)he? is the one who works for an ins. company)

Thanx for the support everybody once again -

but yeah, my main problem is that my brother screwed me on this whole deal. Long story short - I'm evidently not on "his" insurance as a "licensed driver" or whatever so that's why "my" insurance is covering for it right now beacause had it been him it would've been done deal - Apparently that's also what's holding up the whole deal...

p.s. - i drove a chevy impala to work today...yup...that sh*t sucked...

Sorry to hear about your accident...godspeed with the repairs.

I completely agree about Minivans, for some reason here in MD I've noticed there are a ton of middle-aged men driving Odysseys like they're sports cars. It's not just the soccer moms on their cell phones you have to look out for.

I don't recall saying he wasn't insured. I was laying out the terms for which one would be required to pay a deductible. Even still, all insurance companies are different, so it is hard to say.

3 of which were over $1500 in damages!

my dad was in an accident in late july, replacement of front bumper & then some is needed. check out this disparity:

adjuster's estimate: $491.xx (we have a $500 deductible)
shop estimate: $1800!!!!! the shop better get the adjuster looking at the car in a different light or else my dad's about to eat a fat bill... the adjuster didn't even account for a bumper replacement when it is clearly necessary.

PS- easy on the stereotypes. there are a lot of BMW enthusiasts out there who really know how to drive, how to work on their cars, etc... i'd like to think i'm one of them.

that's nothing...my friend's Civic got hit at a parking lot causing a dent in his bumper.

Honda quoted him for $700. My friend who owns a dent shop fixed it for $60. Honda wanted to charge over 10x more than what my friend did.

I feel you man. I had a hit and run where some Ahole backed into my car while parked and ran. I came out and found the damage.

Now I am stuck with the bill as the repair cost is lower then my deductable so it's not even worth claiming. It happened just last week so August "must" be RX8 accident month.

TO ALL RX8 OWNERS THAT HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT YET: PARK YOUR CAR IN THE GARAGE TILL SEPTEMBER!

Makes me sick!

sorry to see another 8 get hated on.

oddly enough, i had something similar happen to my passenger side fender. i was going to fix it this month but since my accident i just blamed him for that too and get it included in the repairs...haha...

make that 11 accidents, and 4 were over $1500. I think mine takes the cake, though. The damages were probably closer to $15,000. What an expensive mistake

Yet another reason to NOT buy an 8. Clearly they're much more likely to be in an accident than other cars.

(Sorry. Just using the "look at all the engine replacement posts!" logic.)

I always hate BMWs. no offense but most owners I saw are nothing but ********. they think they're super duper cool/rich by having a BMW. and they look people down.

Sorry about your 8 man, hope it gets fix soon.

Unhappy busted rims

Well, I haven't been in a "real" accident, but I sure messed up the rims. I have never hit curbs in any other car but with Kanes 8, I don't know...I just am attracted to them. That'll be expensive!

Got an email from our performance shop guy today. The air filter is covered in oil. Seems the seal on the turbo leaked and now waiting for a new one from Greddy. Great......luckily it is just a month old and under warranty!

This car sure costs me/Kane more money that I thought a car could possibly use!

8 or not, my Nissan 4-door truck was backed into once. People just don't pay attention when they drive. HI is SO bad!

Thumbs down

yup...

so...instead of coming back on here to post the wonderful pic's of my repaired 8...

i get to sit here and stare at the monitor ALL FREAKING NIGHT

got a call from the repair shop evidently saying that they're still not ready - Jerk's have been telling me that for the past two weeks! honestly if they took this long to fix it i wouldn't have a problem but telling me it's gonna be ready every freakin' day then tell me that there's a small ding we want to get out - or there's a spot that they wanna touch up - F* THAT!? THEN DON'T FREAKIN' CALL ME! crap shot my entire day down - supposedly now my 8's due to return on monday of next week...another weekend down the hole...

Damn that old man...

ghey. at least it could have been a decent bmw. 325 is the panzi one. only those people who just want the bmw insignia get those. if they wanted a real performance car, they would have gotten the 330 or better. by "those people" i mean ****.
