SC Damn, for the first time in my life...ever, laziness did NOT pay off.

I took my car to my local Sears to get an oil change as I have used them before in the past without incident and they are less than a mile away from me and I didn't feel like doing it this time.

I merily walk around the mall without a care in the world as my car is getting it's oil changed. I pick it up and start my drive home. As I'm driving I see a small grease spot on my sunroof controls. I groan but don't care too much as it's bound to happen at a service center.

That is until I see the grease is also in the headliner. Not only that but it's all over the headliner on the driverside, including the A pillar and the door?! So I have done a LOT of oil changes in my life and am trying to remember the step where I take my greasy hand and run it all over the headliner of the car. As hard as I try, I don't remember this being a step. Even after looking at a dozen how-tos and calling a few shops, this seems like a step most people consider safe skip.

So I just spent the last 45min outside with soap and water(plus a rag for application) and cleaned it all. But THEN those spots were cleaner than the rest of the headliner so I just cleaned the entire headliner, which turned out to be a good thing anyway but I still should not have had grease all over the car.

For good measure I'm about to go outside to clean/recondition the leather seats.

Next time, I'm doing it myself again. Damn you lazyness, damn you!

Always inspect your car before leaving a service facility.

Look on the bright side,, your headliner is clean now.

I should have but oh well.

I normally do my own but since I'm an apartment dweller I can't do it here. Have to drive 30min away to my parents house to do it and I had things I needed to get done today. Had I know I would have had to invest time to clean it, I would have just used that as driving time and just done it myself.

Luckily I should be in a house later this year and won't have to worry about it.

My lease specifically says I can't work on my car here and they DO monitor that. I talked to them and am able to get away with things that don't involve fluids and can be done in less than an hour.

Now my old apartment I could do anything, but this new one is nicer so it's a trade off.
