That's nothing. I don't know how to drive stick and I stalled a manual at zoom-zoom live 7 times in 15 seconds and then drifted forward into a cone at 2mph.
Ok, so that wasn't actually me, but I saw it happen right in front of me. The RX-8 cried for help.

How do you stall a video game.. Everyone goes full throttle in a game.. Even if you don't drive stick.. Push gas all the way down and then let off the clutch.. not like your going to blow the engine in a video game... Good thing I wasn't watching.. I would have gotten fustrated and I'm not even the one driving..

I must have hit R twice now while trying to get into 6th, usually when not paying to much attention to shifting... good GOD did I feel bad for my car, I took it to get washed right after cuz I felt dirty.

Even after 15 years driving manuals (maybe because they were all turbo-diesels), my shifthing is not exactly as Stirling Moss' (as one of my friends likes to point out). The good point is that I am getting much smoother in my shifting with normal cars, by better rev-matching and timid heel-toe...

Sadly enough the longer I drove stick the more often I ground my gears.
I don't do it often though. Just cuz when I was still a newbie, I was extra careful during driving. Now, I'm less careful and sometimes I do stupid things. :D I hate grinding though. Sounds like you really really mess up your car.

What is heel-toe shifting? lol Sorry for being nooby, ::slaps face with fish:: but I havent drove a stick in 7 years and want to get back into it. Im looking to buy an rx8 auto, but should I jump into the manual and relearn with this car? Or will I be doing more damage to the car then I should be?

bwahaha... for some reason I just visualized that and now I can't stop laughing... especially the "drifted forward into a cone at 2mph."

Heel on the brake, to on either the clutch or gas, depending on which foot is being used, also depending on Manual or Automatic.
I never drive that way. People who do tend to go through brakes faster.
With the heel constantly hovering over the brake one tends to use it alot more. Often incidentally.
btw: Get the manual and re-learn. Buying an Auto8 is like buying a bicycle with one pedal.

I learned stick on a 3000GT about 9 years ago, so im decent. The up shifting is not really a problem... I think I have grinded into 2nd a couple times in rush hour traffic because I was super tired of shifting and didnt press the clutch all the way. The down shifting I have been working on... I have rather large feet so heel-toe is real hard for me to get down everytime... I normally just give the engine a quick rev to my estimate of the match a split second before shifting while applying the brakes.
