Unhappy Damn Problem

So my Rx-8 has about 9 thousand miles and every time I break it makes a screeching sound. SO I took it to the dealership and they told me the break pads are 90 % good so I drove it today and the noise is still there. Anyone knows what the problem is so I could take it back and tell them specifically. Also sometime when I pick up to about 50 MPH there is a whirring sounds coming from the car it only last for about 3 second... just wanted to see if anyone has had these problems too. Thanks Guy I think you all are better than any Mazda dealership

go to the tech section.. there must be at least 2-3 posts about break pads squeeling within the last 2 weeks.. Also there is a TSB out for this problem.. check out www.finishlineperformance.com under the rx8 bulletin section..

Mine Squeal only when I first apply brakes, only for a few seconds, I wonder if that would be covered?

I was on my break, so off I headed to Starbucks, where I hit the brake and stopped for coffee. The hot blonde barrista was on her break out in the parking lot working on the parking brake on her shooting brake when she said help me tighten this brake but don't push it too hard or else it will break and then I'll be done with my break but will be broke.

That TSB is for 2004-2006 model years, but it very well may apply to your vehicle.

Print it out anyway, and bring it with you to the dealer.

I thought my OEM brakes were loud too until I got some track pads. Now those are annoying on the street!

Technical Service Bulletin. it means a lot of rx8s have this problem, therefore, posted on bulletins for technicians. which translates to your dealership's incompetency for not fixing it the first time. click on the link posted above, the one that says finishline, then you'll know. the whirring sound you're talking about needs more description. do you have the car on full throttle? which gear? a/c on?

if you cannot figure out where or what post 3 is about it is going to be very tough on you..

I had that problem, took it to the dealer, and they replaced the back brakes. The problem went away for awhile, then came back even worse. This time I went in with the TSB, and they replaced the front brakes. I picked it up yesterday and haven't had a squeal yet (from my car that is). Hopefully it will stay that way.
