Darn you, Forum members!

A few weeks ago I was thinking about getting a new car (my Blazer is paid off). I don't NEED a new car, mind you..... My friend has a G35 sedan and I read a lot of comparisons with it and the RX-8. After finding this forum and test driving the car last weekend, I finally ended up getting a Sunlight Silver with GT, black leather and Nav system today.
I really tried to find something bad about this vehicle, but the test drive and the forum members here (especially the "Little things" thread) convinced me.
About the worst thing I can think of is that the documentation with the Nav system is worthless, although the system is pretty user friendly.
In all, although I've only had the car about 8 hours, I love it. It's going to be tough driving anything else.

In short, thanks and darn you all!

PS - Thanks to this forum I was able to make sure the M-flash was on the car.

Welcome to the cult.

"the little things" thread is really great isnt it? I'm still(and will continue) to love this car- plus the forum is a pretty good place as well compared to some 'other' owners groups.

Welcome to the cult.....I hope that your employer doesn't get mad with all the time you will be spending on this site while at work. The addiction gets worse, not better after you buy an 8.

Awesome! I really like the Sunlight Silver color. Now make sure you warm it up before driving it each morning.

So did your techs even know what the "M" flash was? Whenever I asked something like that, they got the Patrick Starfish blank stare and drool. "Uhhhhhh...."

Congrats and welcome aboard.

The undeniable truth is that the 8 does not excel in any particular area, it just has an excellent combination of everything...... that's why it is so God damn perfect.

Totally addictive, feels just like playing Gran Turismo everyday.

Speed-ER,
No, of the 3 dealerships I was working with (yay bidding wars!), not one of them knew of the M-flash. They all had to check wih the service department on that one.
I did discover my first problem last night, though.
Seems I can't get the Nav lady to just shut up. Even with the screen closed she was giving me directions back to my house when I was just driving around town.
I was trying to clear the route, which either isn't possible or I couldn't figure out, to no avail.
Sometimes I just want a map with my car, no route, thanks.
After searching a bit on this forum, I think I might have to Cold Start the Nav system. As I said originally, the documentation with the Nav is useless, and the web site isn't any help, either.

I'll post some pics when my digi camera battery charges.

Erl, when you have the map up, push down once on the middle of the joggle control. a menu will come up on the left of the screen, near the bottom choose "delete/cancel destination" this will cancel the current destination the system is guiding you to.
The system is designed to continue to give you verbal directions even with the screen closed. you can turn this off too.
play with the menus some they are fairly intuitive ... the manual is not.

It's for training purposes for when you do get hitched. You'll still get told to go home when all you want to do is run around a little more. Now what is the off sequence for the organic model in the right seat?
